“Great place.”
Reviewed October 17, 2011

Went on three day/two night trip to Yogyakarta. Were really surprise how nice this place is, feel more like a home then a hotel. Rooms are very clean and modern, the staff is great and very helpful. Great place to stay and relax. Within walking distance of malioboro and 15 minute taxi ride to the airport.

Strategically located. As soon as we arrived in Jogja, it only took 5 minutes walk from Tugu Station to get to it. A very nice and private environment. Friendly, helpful hotel staffs, they helped me to get the pedicab (becak) or cab to go around. Also gave a very good route trip tips. I loved the hotel garden. I will obviously stay there again if I go to Jogja.

Very well located in Yogyakarta.
The girl that is managing the place is fantastic, friendly, helpful with good guidance and tips to plan your trip. There is also a travel agent within but there is no pressure to book something thru them as they understand that travelers also want different suggestions.
We stayed three nights in the ‘deluxe room’ that was very clean and comfortable, nicely furnished, would have liked a bigger bathroom and a better maintenance of the building itself(walls, paint, etc) the satellite TV was a big plus as well as the beautiful garden outside.
The breakfast was enjoyable with a lovely omelet, fresh fruit and juice and very nice tea.

I spent less than 48 hours in Yogyakarta, the goal was to visit Borobudur and Prambanan. With the help of the great people of Rumah Boedi who planned everything I had the time to see the sunrise in Borobudur (wonderful) and visit other temples.
The place is small with a very nice garden and terrace, you feel to be at home.
The room is well furnished and most important the bed is comfortable

Rumah Boedi is about 2 minutes away from Malioboro Street by becak. It is a small house with three separate "villas" or rooms within its small compound. There are rattan outdoor furniture for you to relax on in the garden, and there's a gazebo where meals are eaten. The menu is pretty limited but the food is tasty. If you don't like what their menu, the guys are willing to run out and buy you any food you want! My daughter caught a cold and we needed to get to a pharmacy and when we asked for directions to the closest one, they immediately offered to run out and get the meds for us! We didn't take them up on their offer because we were on our way out to Malioboro anyway. The staff are courteous and very helpful.

We stayed one night in the Junior Suite which has a queen-sized bed (Very comfortable!!) and a very clean en-suite bathroom. The room's decor was superb, with mood lighting and artistic touches to remind you that you are in Yogyakarta.

There are special rates for KITAS holders. However, even without the KITAS, the rates are very very reasonable for the quality and standard of accommodation.

The only thing missing is a pool. That's the only reason I've given this residence a 4 star instead of 5. Other than that, it's a great place to base yourself in Yogya.

If you’re interested in a great location (close to Marlioboro Road, the main artery of Yogyakarta), a home away from home, and a family away from home, I recommend this homestay. The staff is outstanding in that they are attentive, caring, and happy to accommodate your needs any way they can. Another MAJOR plus: their excellent English.
I tend to steer away from generic hotels where you feel like you could be anywhere, and I have to say this little bungalow complex felt authentic with the gorgeous red-clay tile Javanese rooftops, the serene busts of Buddha, reminiscent of those at Borobudur, and the cozy, yet modern décor. The bed was very comfortable, the bedroom and bathroom very clean, and there is a large flat-screen TV mounted on the wall. The bungalow has a private little garden where you can sit and relax and eat. There’s a bell you can ring if you need something. (Don’t worry, there’ a phone inside the room, too, but we never used it.)
They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner in a picturesque outdoor area, covered by a traditional Javanese-style rooftop. (We were always too tired to go out for dinner.) The food was great, and we tried the traditional breakfast of jackfruit, chicken leg, pickled egg, and rice (of course). Most of the time, we just went for the yummy omelet. For lunch & dinner, their nasi goreng dishes were fantastic as well as their homemade soups. (My mouth is watering just thinking about it). If you’re craving something else, like Pizza Hut (served with sambal!) or McDonald’s or chicken satay from the street stalls, they can go and bring it back for you.
Additionally, they offer a traditional Javanese massage service, which is done in the comfort of your room, and for a very reasonable price.
They are also a tour group, Silk of Java, I believe, so they can enthusiastically make suggestions of what to see and where to go. (The tourist books I bought in the States don’t seem to even cover half of what there is to see/do.) They can also arrange for transportation for you at reasonable rates. They’re very organized and thoughtful. The one time they were unable to arrange transportation, they provided me a business card, on the back of which they wrote directions in Bahasa Indonesian for the cab driver on the return. (Useful as English is not widely spoken.)
Another great plus was they provided a mobile phone - convenient.
We really miss the staff, who became a family away from home for us. Truly one of the best stays in my travels.

I spent 4 days in Yogyakarta with an extended family group comprising my spouse, 2 children (2yrs, 4yrs), my parents, brother (all from Oz), 2 aunts, uncle, and cousin (locals). We had booked out all 3 pavilions (using up all 4 extra beds) so we had the place to ourselves and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Malioboro St was only a short walk away, and the serenity of the garden surrounds was lovely to return to after the hustle and bustle. Why pay for a bunch of sterile rooms and use of a communal guest lounge you have to share with hundreds of other hotel guests when you can have an apartment with proper living spaces, garden and private attendants for the same money? Our apartments were beautifully furnished with a/c and thank god for the western style bathroom! Breakfast provisions included in the tariff were generous, taking the meal together in the tranquil setting of the garden gazebo made a lovely start to the day. The disney channel came in handy when overtired children eventually revolted (and we could leave them in the room by themselves, door unlocked so they could run into whichever pavilion they wanted to visit relatives). The laundry service was most welcome, and with several aged relatives in the party we certainly took advantage of the massage service. The attendants were very friendly and helpful, and our butler certainly seemed to work long hours - whether we were up at 5am or going to bed at 11pm it was still the same (polite) man. The travel agent service on site also turned out to be most helpful as we needed to make arrangements to return 2 of our party by plane. And when we found - halfway through our 15hr return bus trip to Jakarta - that we'd left a much-loved soft toy behind (with no chance of going back to get it) a mere phone call, and the toy was posted promptly to our address in Jakarta. Truly excellent service, wonderful amenity and a place I will remember fondly and recommend to friends.
