I stayed in Puri Guest house for 2 weeks and was very happy with it. There are only a few rooms for guests and a private house for a family member. My room was very clean, basic and nice. There was always hot and cold drinking water and coffee and tea. It's also possible to use the kitchen and cook your own meals, which I didn't with so many nice and cheap warungs near the guest house. The room has AC and shower with hot water. Free WiFi is also available.
Puri guest house is perfect located, a little away from the busy town centre, but still on walking distance (20 minutes to Jl. Malioboro) and also a little away from the area where all the tourist are staying. Breakfast in the moning was very surprising, with every morning an other local dis to try.
I hope I find time in the fiture to stay here again.

Our family is staying at Puri Guest House for one week, in the apartment and two guest rooms. Our hosts Ibu Ningsih and Pak Unang and their staff are incredibly kind and attentive. The rooms and beds are clean and comfortable, with private bathrooms, AC, TV, free wi-fi, filtered hot & cold water, even bicycles to borrow, plus a quiet garden. The apartment has its own kitchen, and the guest rooms have a shared kitchen, so we can cook for ourselves, but breakfast (typical Indonesian foods, fresh fruit and coffee or tea) is included, and many shops and restaurants are a short walk (or becak ride) down the street. Our hosts have helped us find anything we need and given us several suggestions for places to visit and things to do. We are close to everything, but because the guest house is located on an alley or 'gang' it is very quiet at night. In fact, walking the gangs has become one of my favorite things about Yogya.
Puri also has a language school, Puri Bahasa Indonesia, which offers fantastic language classes and other cultural experiences. We had a great time trying Indonesian style batik. We first came to Puri Bahasa 10 years ago, and are so happy to finally be back again, and welcomed as family!
Yogya is a great city, both traditional and modern, with markets and malls, the Kraton (Sultan's palace), silver work, batik, and more. Within an hour, you can visit the incredible Prambanan Hindu temple complex and Borobudur Buddhist temple. Puri Guest House and Puri Bahasa Indonesia language school are family-owned and operated by Ibu Ningsih and Pak Unang, and their kind staff. Thanks for providing us with such a wonderful stay in Yogya!
