Staffs were friendly, informative and provided service with smile and arranged for private tour to Borobudur, Prambanan and Mt Merapi as well as to Ramayana ballet. The cultural touch and calming ambience is the highlight for this hotel. Have some (if not all) good restaurants, cafes, shopping areas (malioboro street) and massage/reflexology centre around the hotel area - so location is good. Truly a different but pleasant stay....

Check in Hotel 1001 Malam. Always given latest info on Jogja from the staffs especially Dewi and Liem, Location is at the middle of town, and is easy to go everywhere by foot. Coffee or tea lover can enjoy your cuppa of tea or coffee all day FOC. There a save deposit box in your room too. If you like to eat, there a restaurant in front of the hotel. If you like to explore Jogja, use the Transjogja Public Bus. The conductor is very helpful and will announce the location on every stops. You can reach Prambanan and Borobudur using the bus and will cost you 3000 Indo Rupiah.

Room Tip: No TV in your room but you can request room with TV but if you are in Jogja, who nees tv when you go...

We stayed for 3 days. Had a very pleasant stay. very nice and helpful staff. Breakfast is limited choice but good. Very good location. walking distance from Maliboro street But not on main road. So have to carry your luggage for 100mts. Rooms are clean bath rooms are neat. Well maintained small court yard with lots of trees. It is not a luxury hotel but very comfortable , I will definitely come back for my next trip.

Hotel 1001 malam is a certainly a pleasant place to stay. Located at the backpackers area of yogyakarta, the hotel is however not located near the main road. A walk from the Malioboro mall (and the nearest bus stop) would take about 5 min. This is probably the main disappointment I have, particularly due to the raining season. Nonetheless the hotel makes up with its Zen like feeling. In the twin bed room, there is no television to distract you. Breakfast is served to your room (or rather outside your room) where you get to enjoy the garden. If the meal is not to expectations, the few restaurants along the gang 2 Road would make up (personally like the fried rice from the restaurant opposite). Service is excellent, and the friendly staff will help to arrange/sell tours or drivers to facilitate your trip.
Pricing is average. Will certainly return if I come back to yogyakarta.

My first advice is don't expect too much of this hotel. This is not a luxury hotel and there's not even a tv in the room (!). I stayed there sometime in Apr 2013 and honestly I was satisfied with the room, service and the staffs. Like every other tourists, I chose to stay here for the good location and good reviews from people who have stayed here before...The price is not very cheap but reasonable and yeah breakfast is ok, no complaint on that. All in all, if you plan to spendnmost of your days wandering around Jogja and go back to hotel to get some sleep then this hotel will be one of teh best options :)

Hotel 1001 Malam is located in a quiet lane where many other budget hotels/hostels can be found. But once past the doorway of 1001 Malam, it's like walking into a small cosy resort hotel. Even from the outside 1001 Malam stands out from its neighbors, and I must say that the owners of many of the restaurants and hotels/hostels in that lane have put in much thoughts and creativity to do up their places. The welcome and service from the staff is warm and cheerful, and one which I would gladly trade for those I am used to getting at the more up-scale establishments. Hartini and Hendry have been particularly helpful. There's easy access to shopping and food from the hotel. Visitors looking for "safer" cuisine can dine in the restaurants sharing the same lane as Malam. Those who want to eat where the locals eat could explore the stalls around Beringharjo Market or north of Tugu station. Many tour agencies can be found within a 3-minute walk from Malam..so exploring the sights around Jogja area is not a problem.

Room Tip: Rooms away from the stairs
