We heard great things on Kesuma and our hostel was located just around the corner. My expectations were high but were only partly fulfilled.

The main problem was that after an hour sitting after we ordered our meals, the waiter informed us that all the fish was sold out. My girlfriend does not eat meat and thus hadded to make her vegetarian appitizer maincourse instead. This new maincourse however contained only few pieces of vegetables and was served semi-warm. Another problem was that our side dish of extra veggies was served after we finished dining.

On the other hand the other dishes reveiled the truelly good quality of the kitchen. The waitor compensated us for the messy dinner by not presenting any bill at all, even not for the drinks.

I would be willing to return and experience that this evening was only bad luck of Murphy-law proportion.

Authentic Indonesian food. Must try. Cozy atmosphere. Some of the dishes are very hot (spicy), so be careful. Those who loves spice will love these dishes. Delicious dishes.
Try their juice too, they are unique and refreshing.
It is a family run restaurant. The owner is very warm and helpful.
You need to bring cash, they don't have EDC.

A unique cozy atmosphere, a friendly host, excellent food especially for those who enjoy tasty Indonesian food (kakap bumbu bali was excellent). The aroma, presentation and taste are just right!
A welcome drink of ginger, kapulaga, cinnamon and sereh mixed in a way that warm your mouth all the way to your tummy....fresh mango juice with a little bit of mints ...too bad I didn't try the coffee, got to rush for the concert, some other time...
