Cakra Kusuma Hotel
Ranked #172 of 212 Hotels in Yogyakarta
Reviewed January 16, 2011

I stayed for business trip at Cakra Kusuma Hotel.
The hotel is located quite near from my Yogya's sales office, so I chose to stay there.
I had the Superior room (apparently it has higher rate than Standard & Business), so I expect quite a better room.

Unfortunately, the room is not as clean as I expected.
Especially the bathroom, where the shower couldn't run properly & had no hot water.
Also the blue ceramic on the bathroom made it had a different feel than the rest of the room.

The curtain is not symetrically put, so if I pull it to one side, it would reveal the other side and vice versa. It made me nervous because people can literally peek into the room from that window, so yeah, I had trouble sleeping at night.

This hotel is not for trravellers looking for comfort.
I suggest if you have extra money, better find a 4-5 star hotel in Yogyakarta, as it will be significantly comfortable than other hotels.

I stayed there for 3 nights and it was an absolute disaster. When we arrived they did not have the a room even though we had paid the room beforehand. It took 2,5 hours to get a room. The toilet did not flush in hour room and was never fixed. We ordered a doubble bed but got two single beds. When we complained we had to wait for several hours in the reception. No one took care of our complaints. We met several other western tourists and they had the same experience with the hotel.
Be aware that the website presents the new rooms which cost the same as the international hotels but with a remote location. Lots of the rooms are old and dirty.
DO NOT GO THERE.

i planed to stay for 5 nights (family with 2 young kids), but decided to switch to another hotel after only stayed 1 night..!! The room is very old with very bad quallty furniture. it does not like a 3 star-hotel room (we stayed in standard room, though i did not chose this one, they just proposed it to us)

This is a good bet for visiting Borobudour temple. It is away from the backpacker chaos on Malioboro Road and is quieter, more famiily -oriented. The newer part of the hotel can be recommended (try business class for economy). There is a substantial breakfast buffet for Asian and Western tastes and complimentary afternoon tea with snacks. It is nearer to Gadja Mada University, so some university types frequent this hotel along with locals and occasional Westerners (like me). A beautiful, clean pool awaits in the hot afternoons. If you prefer a quieter locale, consider staying here. Wonderful staff!
