Our family or 6 spent 4 nights at Villa Blue Steps. Accommodations are quaint, rustic and comfortable. The owners were very accommodating. The restaurant was next door and ordering food was a breeze (using a tiny bell to summon the staff for our needs). Food was freshly prepared and delicious! Surroundings were rice paddies and quite peaceful!
We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay here. The view and activity on the rice kept changing during the stay. We enjoyed a walk through the rice fields during harvesting.
We were very pleased with the car and Alvin, the driver, that we used during our stay to explore Yogyakarta, Mt Merapi and Borobudor temple. Alvin was punctual, patient and very friendly.
The service and food delivered to our room from the adjoining Blue Steps restaurant was amazing. All requests were met with a smile.
The villa was well serviced and beautifully designed. The perfect space for our family of two adults and two children to enjoy themselves. The outdoor bathrooms were a treat.
The pool and surroundings were an easy place to relax. I would recommend factoring time there within your itinerary.
Thanks to Koen for checking in with us every day regarding our stay and any requests.
Had a fabulous 3-day stay at Blue Steps. The hosts were responsive and very helpful in setting up the visit, arranging airport transfers, suggesting restaurants and things to see. Their driver, Alvin, was very knowledgeable and a careful driver. The villa comes with a restaurant with an extensive menu. You can breakfast and dinner there or by your very own infinity pool overlooking rice fields. The two bedrooms are elegantly designed with statues, art and two HUGE beautiful outdoor bathrooms. Great for two couples or a family. We were concerned at first at being out from town, but with a driver, the airport and sites were easily accessible. I can't imagine a more delightful, beautiful place to start each day in Yogyakarta.
Gorgeous two bedroom, two bathroom, family house, tasteful Indonesian furniture, great garden with terras and pool looking over the rice fields. Warm and friendly service from the owners, Lina and Koen and their staff. Wonderfull food, Indonesian as well as world kitchen. If needed, trips will be organised for you and they make sure you visit nice places, not the "tourist traps". For us the stay in Villa Blue Steps was the start of a wonderful trip to get to know Indonesia. During the day we visited the highlights of Yogya and surroundings, as a basis of our stay Blue Steps was a quiet oasis of delight. We will definitely visit again!
The hosts Koen and Lina, along with their lovely staff, did all they could to ensure that we had the most wonderful stay in this beautiful villa. The design, furnishings and layout of the rooms in the villa, were beautiful and always immaculately cleaned every day. We loved the outdoor bathrooms too. The villa had great amenities including slippers, batik bathrobes, shampoo, conditioner, mini bar, coffee making facilities, and more.
The view from the villa, was to die for - I think we may have snapped hundreds of photos throughout our 7 day stay! Seeing the daily life of the rice farmers, and watching all the birds and wildlife, was a real treat. And all from that fabulous infinity swimming pool!
We really appreciated the different afternoon snacks provided by the kitchen every day. The service provided by the staff, was efficient and they were always so friendly and sweet. We also booked one spa service - foot/hand massage - and it was to an unexpectedly high standard for such a bargain price!
We used their lovely guide / driver for a day trip to Mt. Merapi - he drove safely, was friendly, and super informative too.
This part of Jogya is really very charming with lovely areas of great beauty. Yet it is only a fairly short drive into the main bustling town centre (around 20 minutes).
Highly recommended. One day we will surely return to this place! Koen and Lina - see you soon! ;)
We didn't stay in the villa but just had dinner in the restaurant. A very nice experience. Rather better quality indonesian food (I loved the beef stew, lots of spices, and not just chili). You dine with your feet in the rice fields.... A place to visit.
Blue Steps surpassed expectations. It is a beautifully designed villa, overlooking rural Java, yet just on the edge of Yogya. Lina, Koen and the staff make you welcome from the moment you arrive, and are always there to assist when needed. But they also leave you to relax and enjoy the superb villa. Once you arrive it is hard to leave. We are looking forward to when we can get away again to spend some more time here. Highly recommended.
