Javanese! thats 1st thing came up in my mind. the place's lovely and the tropical garden is comforting. you can feel peace and relaxing with how they decorate the place. i have nothing to complain with the place except the mosquitos!
i was there for my cousin"s wedding party,so yes..you can throw little party here..but the parking lot not too big and could be a traffic jam around kemang.
the food is not too special but not that bad..and i think the waiters need to be more faster in providing the food..little bit slow.

You negotiate the crazy traffic occasional floods and crumbling footpath of Jalan Kemang Raya and you see a high fence and a carved wooden double door. You enter and the world is transformed into a tropical garden with long lily ponds and ancient thick trunked frangipani trees and a series of traditional Javanese joglo shelters. The atmosphere is pure Javanese elegance - the architecture, the furniture and the food all contribute to a calm and satisfying experience. The food is traditional Indonesian done exceptionally well.. I suggest you try the blackboard special nasi goreng and the traditional iced drink, beras kencur. The coffee which is traditional kopi tobruk is excellent. There is also a newly opened beer bar in the rear joglo that has live music- the manager Billy also manages bands. Payon is a whole experience and great place for lunch or even better dinner before heading around the corner to RedWhite Jazz Lounge where Jakarta's top jazz musicians hang out and jam.

We had a little celebration birthday party at payon today. Well, personally i love this place... Its like javanese traditional house, you can walk around the place while waiting the foods to come.

All the foods in here is indonesian foods so for those of you who curious... You can try.

Today i ordered nasi campur "Payon". Its a traditional steamed rice with spices spicy soya bean, beef & beancurd in Balinese chili sauce, shreded omelete, curry chicken, cucumber & chili sauce.

Some of my friends ordered nasi cobek "Payon". Its steamed rice on top of mashed hot garlic chili with fried chicken lemongrass, fried salted fish & fresh vegetables served on a traditional Indonesian mortar.

What a lovely place. Traditional Javanese open sided house with lovely wooden floors and furnishings. Had some great Javanese food in good company. Very atmospheric place. Only health warning - the place was swarming with mossies. Take plenty of repellent and you should be fine.
