“Best place for Indian to stay and food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2011

Manhattan Hotel is owned by an Indian and with availability of Indian as well as other food as well. Its like one stop for all the visitors.
Food is very good and staff services etc is not at all bad. Its quiet reasonble joint and gives 1 day Laundry for any 2 items and Internet free.
In the morning Breakfast served in very much Indian , like North Indian and South Indian dishes. In fast this is the Hotel where you will get eggless cake as well . Its kind of heaven for Vegetarian.

An associate booked this hotel for us. We had business meetings near by. The hotel is listed on their website as a 5 star hotel. It is only a 3 start hotel, western standards. Maybe in Indonesia this hotel is a 5 star hotel. The room was comfortable by could have used some upgrading. The internet didn't always worked. The best part was the breakfast the next morning. It was a fabulous Asian & Western breakfast. We ate the Asian food and loved it.

Booked into Manhattan Hotel as I required a hotel next to the Malaysian Embassy and close to the Grand Melia which was down the road.

From a location standpoint, this hotel is next to a large redevelopment next door which means traffic is very bad in a city that already has a chronic traffic problem. Having said that, it is close to a large number of consulates and embassy's.

The hotel is 3 star at best. I was not impressed with the cleanliness of the room (and I was given a suite!!). Check in was reasonably efficient and fast. Internet via cable was available in the room plus international plug adapters. Unfortunately wifi was only available in the public areas which meant I had to traipse downstairs to check my email on my iPad.

Breakfast included in the rate was pretty basic compared to other hotels I have stayed in Jakarta.

I moved hotels the next day as I was very concerned about the traffic and had an early flight the following day. All in all if all that is required is basic amenities and location close to the embassies then this hotel is fine, otherwise I would strongly suggest a hotel in a better location to enjoy Jakarta

I have stayed in quaite a few other hotels in Jakarta. But Manhattan gives you the value for money. Most importantly the hotel Lobby is good for holding meetings. It is centrally located and most business houses are located nearby.

One can always treat a business colleague with a good and sumptous Indian Cuisine at 6th floor Man Tan Restuarant.

Amabassador shopping centre is located at about 5 minutes walk. It is ideal for frequent travellers to Jakarta.

Located in Kuningan this hotel is close to most of the commercial and CBD areas of the city. The breakfast spreads are elaborate and for travelers from the Indian sub-continent, the restaurant ensures that you don't feel away from home.
The service quality is quite good with just the right mix of professionalism and friendliness.

I stayed at the Manhattan Hotel for approximately 4 nights in November. I found this hotel online and it was priced extremely competitively. Friends in Jakarta had recommended this hotel to me 3 or 4 years ago when the hotel first opened. I was surprised to find that the facilities were in order and the rooms were large, well appointed and well priced. The room was clean, but were showing their age and starting to show the tell tale signs of a lack of ongoing maintenance. I had the basic suite, which was only about $10 USD per night more than the standard room which I felt was well worth the extra outlay. Quite impressed for the price and would stay again!

First time staying in manhattan hotel jakarta for business trip.
Here's the review of Executive King Room:
1. Recep: Big area but only 2 staff at the desk at 12pm. Waited 20mins with only 1 person in front of me.
2. Lift: Enter the lift and there's a nice fresh fragrance.
3. Room:
a. Walk in: Smell of old carpet
b. Toilet: washing basin has a water saving device that shoots out water in tiny jets making washing difficult
c. Toilet: bowl flushes ultra strong and loud
d. Shower: head is broken and the holder is loose, hence have to stand very close to the shower head in order to bath
e. Aircon: thermostat does not turn on the aircon at 18 degC. Have to set at 12 degC and its ok, but at 3am the aircon stop working and woke up at 4am to turn the thermostat to extreme left to 10degC then atfer 15mins aircon work again but can't get to sleep afterwards.
f. Bed: Sheets are not that clean with black stain in pillow case, bed sheet and comforter. Asked for new sheets and housekeeping sent fresh hot sheets in 10mins but still have some black stains here and there. I changed the pillow case and found that the pillow is filled with yellow patches and one even have 2 blood stains. Bed squeeks whenever i turn in the night and it keeps reminding me to sleep still.
g. TV: 65 channels with HBO, Star Movies, BBC, CNA, so at least when i can't sleep there's TV to watch.
h. Closet: There's a body odour smell lingering in the closet and hence i did not hang my clothes there
i. Safe: There's a safe but can't use it as the battery is low.
j. Curtain: Doesn't fully closes allowing lights to shine in.
k. Wall: Wall paper are peeling at the edges and carpet are covered in thick dust at the corners. The sides of the bed frame is also covered in dust.
4. Understand that it is a 4 star hotel, but i guess a local and international ratings have a big gap.
5. Return to stay?: At the bottom of my preferred list but if company has a budget then for short trips of 1-2 days I'll just bear with it.
