The only interesting thing is the traditional colonial style and near to Kota Tua (which you can reach by walking), also Kota Train Station, and fast check in. Other things, all poor. Tasteless breakfast, old furniture, and interior. Nothing I can say. totally not worth it to stay here.

Room Tip: swimpool is at 3rd floor. I have stayed at 5th floor. I think it's prefer.

We spent 3 days in a sadly run down yet beautiful hotel. The room badly needed to be updated as the furnishings and bathrooms were delapitated however the king size bed was comfortable. The charm of this hotel is its closeness to the historical centre of Kota Jakarta which contains some interesting attractions such as the Wayang Puppet museum in Fatahillah Square and Cafe Batavia. This area is serviced well by rail and the express bus service to the CBD.

Good points about the hotel is the pool, the breakfast and the wonderful staff.

we booked this hotel via Navelar, Hamburg based on the website of the hotel and info from Navelar.
We travel a lot and never found a hotel this run down, dirty, smelly, holes in the carpets, no furniture left in the shared spaces, dried blood stains in the bed linnen, we didn't dare to take of our shoes in the room, horrible!
The uniforms of the staff appeared to be torn, worn out, missing buttons, etc, etc.
Also the exterior is totally neglected for many years. Really such a shame, since the location is fine, the building itself once was magnificent. So must have been the interior.
Hotel manager was very uncomfortable with the whole situation.
We checked out within 1 hour.
We reported it back to Navelar GMBH, Hamburg , but no reaction what soever. Just read that Navelar is bankrupt. I am not surprised.
So, do not book this hotel and do not use Navelar if they re-start.

Room Tip: do not book this hotel!

Please realize you are looking at an hotel in Kota, the old colonial city centre and old harbor, in Jakarta-North (just above China Town). This part of town has completely lost its shine and charm, and it applies to everything. Probably why you won't find any spectaculair hotels in this part of town.

The good: the old colonial style of the hotel, very centrally located in Kota, close to some historical colonial monuments (Cafe Batavia) and museums.
The bad: everything else. The hotel is colossal, old and hard to maintain (can't imagine it ever to be fully booked). Don't be fooled by the reception area or the hotel website's photos. The carpets in the hallway are historical (hah!), the rooms outdated and not suitable for any traveller. Our hotel room windowed overlooked the swimming pool, but impossible to spot since the window was too dirty.
Breakfast is not that bad and there is live music at night, but without the audience...

Getting there from the airport: a 30-40 minute cab ride, get in line for a Blue Bird (65,000 IDR).

Better: stay somewhere else and spend the cab fare - or a little more to the south and walk.

About Kota: Don't be afraid to go into the slums, the people are very welcoming. It shows the real world, small markets, cramped homes. You can do a boat ride in the old harbor which is nice and very local. A guide helps as you will be going through a maze of small streets. There's a nice boat museum and some historical sights.

The hotel is in the old town Batavia and the hotel could be said to be old but just think you are sleeping in a part of history. They were starting to renovate when I was staying there as well. My room was ok nice bed shower, toilet everything I needed. The breakfast was good curently in Europe now and have had nothing like that here. The staff are also very nice. I liked my stay here.

Contrary to that reflected in others' recent reviews, my experience was quite OK. Quiet room, and the others I encountered were mostly mature couples and individuals there for a meeting. It is a big old dinosaur of a hotel with well established roaches, but the proximity to Cafe Batavia and the museums made it A-OK and was my reason for choosing it. Really cheesy short loop American elevator music plays in the halls, lobby, AND INDIVIDUAL BATHROOM ceiling speakers from 7a.m. until night. Noooooo! Made meditation a challenge. Make sure to have your printed reservation confirmation in hand, and don't count on functioning internet. That truly was a problem! Seems to be broken most of the time, likely to stay that way.

Room Tip: Avoid proximity to the noisy dance club.
