“good food and wide choice”
Reviewed July 12, 2014

I have been here few times and I always feel good about the food choice and variety, especially the japanese station and western food.
Staff is friendly and efficient
my wife is asian and she always feel happy with the choice and quality of local/chinese/indian food here.
overall good quality food at reasonable price compared t other 5-star hotels buffet.
the dessert station is one of the best in town
the barbeque station is very good as well (mini lobster and jumbo prawns excellent)
will come back here on a regular basis

“I thought warm beer was only in Britain...I was wrong”
Reviewed March 24, 2014

Yup, they brought me a warm Bintang beer. I was nice about it though. I told them about it and all I expected from them was that the subsequent beers should be really cold. The subsequent beers were not really cold, but they were cold. I almost had the buffet , but then I saw the raw oysters that had been opened for hours. The sashimi looked good and I was briefly tempted again, but then I saw the Indian station whose food was dry. Maybe the lack of patrons here have kept the food quality down. There were only 5 filled tables on a Sunday afternoon!!! The live music singer had no energy and played only a few songs that no one cared for. I ordered a smoked salmon salad, which was very bland. I'm not coming back here again unless it's free.

Reviewed January 6, 2014

Hello everyone,

Had a chance to experience buffet lunch in Gran Via in November 2014 and January 2014. In November they charged 390k DR nett with free flow or sparkling, in Jan --only soft drinks for the same price. The staff told me by the phone that the price is 320k IDR nett which would be totally OK as they cut out alcohol pouring, after i finished lunch and the bill was brought to my table i found out that 320k IDR is ++, question WHY???? was met only by the smile from the waiter............ HOW typical!

Food quality.

1/ if you even dined in major buffet players in JKT such as Sailendra, Satoo, Asia or Cafe Cafe you`d find the spread in Gran Via a class LOWER. YES, they do have Indian corner, Thai corner, some sushi and oyster...etc.. but you always have feeling they it`s ll somewhat second hand, saved from yesterday or today`s breakfast. The Indian food was cold ( even samosa and chicken tikka), tom-yum is too hot, cakes are cut in pieces and put on the cold display ( obvious leftovers), fruit station -all watery and no taste ( 100% sure from the breakfast). I totally support the idea of NOT-wasting food, but at the extend it`s done in Gran Melia is actually embarrassing and not worthy of imitation at all.

2/ Ambiance of Gran Via after the renovation is huge plus - all shiny, new and in luxury brown pallet, but if you come to have lunch the nice decor will not save the day as the food quality is less than satisfactory. I have a table near the window and two dead flies were properly displayed on the window sill. One of the waiters was quick enough to remove them ( corpses) with napkin, but...this noble deed can not save the day either.

3/ Personnel was slow with empty/ used plates removal. May be they were all distracted with loud music.........

4/Drinks included into the price: soft drinks ( coke, 7up etc), 3 choices of juice ( apple, orange, mango), ice tea.

5/ If you care to have a sip of wine, better bring your own and pay corkage - 150k IDR /bottle, otherwise two glasses from ala carte menu ill cost you FAR more.

6/ Gladly answer your question.............

“Amazing Food Quality & Selection”
Reviewed June 21, 2013

I recently visited Cafe Gran Via buffet at Gran Melia Hotel for lunch,I have noticed all the tremendous changes in the food quality and selection, especialy the pastry corner with all the European style cakes is outstanding.
There are many food stations with chefs who cook your foods to your request,Mongolian, grills
pasta,Indian curries,Chinese BBQ and noodles. There is also a large bread selection and salad counter.I was also impressed with the Sushi counter.I will be back again.
