The national monument can be seen from all over western jakarta and was supposed to be open to the public for viewing from the top in february but was delayed. Even the walk below the monument had a lot to see with tablets of the Dutch history of the country. Lot of locals can be seen in the lawns around the monument. Seems to be a popular picnic spot.
