Batik Keris is a chain of multiple stores across Indonesia. They all have slightly different items. The one in Yogjakarta is huge, with lots of inexpensive local craft items. There is a nice shop in the Ciputra center of mega kunigan too. The quality of items here is better than in Yogjakarta, but the prices are higher too. The shop at the airport has a very limited selection. I would try to stop in one of the non-airport shops if possible. In addition to nice batik clothes and accessories, there is a good selection of carvings, metal figures, shadow puppets, keychains and other trinkets. Most items are unique, so it's a good idea to look at all of them carefully before making your selection.

Travelling doesn't only mean going places but most importantly where your heart & soul implanted and you physically bring back memories from the place by having something from them.

Indonesia is very rich in culture, but Batik is arguably the most well known form of art still continuously used by Indonesians daily. Batik designs and production techniques are so unique that only Indonesia can make the authentic ones ... sort of like Chinese food have to be made by Chinese.

While there are many Batik producers in Indonesia ranging from home industry until big corporation, Batik Keris is still the number 1 brand in Indonesia dating back from more than half a century. I believe the tradition combined with strict quality assurance and updated mangement system that set Batik Keris position apart from others.

There are more than 100 stores spread in numbers of cities and provinces in Indonesia, and more conveniently, the stores available in almost all airports. When we want to bring back a piece of Indonesia, Batik Keris is the best place to pick.

When it comes to batik (Indonesian traditional clothing) and handicrafts, Batik Keris is the definite place to go to. The batik at the store ranges from traditional patterns to the very contemporary one. What I like is also the fit: they have both regular fit and slim fit, which is a style that I have been looking for throughout Jakarta. Who would expect that I would actually find it in the airport instead of the Jakarta malls.

If you would like to browse better collection, simply ask the airport staffs if you can go to the Batik Keris located at Terminal F in the domestic airport. The one located in Terminal D/E (international airport) also caters significant collection, but not as much.
