Right by the busway Tosari and Sudirman train station, and we got a room for only US$30/night on agoda. For that package, it was a fairly clean room (some issues with the sink not draining but nothing awful), breakfast was edible but not something to look forward to, staff were very friendly and helpful. Wifi wasn't fast but decent connection in the room. TV even had HBO and a bunch of other channels.

The bad sides: as already mentioned, the rooms are very small, even the hallway will give you problems if you're claustrophobic. The room also had no window and not the greatest lighting. And if you're really sensitive to cigarette smoke you might want to look elsewhere - people smoke in the restaurant downstairs, the hallways sometimes were smokey as well. We asked for an extra pillow and it also smelled like cigarettes. We were moderately annoyed by that but would consider staying there again if we were able to get the great rate again.

I think this hotel built by force and not performed as a really hotel. The hotel doesnt have a bottle opener!!,.,! Embarrasing!! The room very small and need to jump over the bed to see the view from the window...breakfast choice is very poor!! I will recommend and will not be back to this hotel again.

I stayed here for a night only. I was so surprised with the room size which was very small. If you have big suitcase dont bother to stay in this hotel unless you will lose a lot of space from its tiny square room.
The tiny room doesnt have window (doesnt really matter),its attached with tiny shower room just 20cm from my bed.
Ac,tv,internet,hot water worked so well.
Location was great at the downtown, walking distance to Jl Sudirman;Grand Indonesia;Plaza Indonesia shopping center.
Overall the size does matter, and i you're looking for "spacy" room, skip this one.

The room was rather compact but comfortable. Room design is aimed more at efficient utilization of the limited space available. The staff was very friendly and helped us plan our trip. The hotel provided maps of the area which helped us navigate at night on foot. The rooms were comfortable for the night stay and affordable too.

Hotel is centrally located and accessible from Grand Indonesia mall, MONAS and other office buildings.

The Clay is located within walking distance of the upscale Plaza Indonesia and Grand for shopping and movies, and you can even walk to some of the clubs like BATS nightclub in the Shangri La. That said, this part of Jakarta is not very friendly for walking so you will most likely be in a taxi, stuck in the famous Jakarta traffic. And your taxi driver may not know where Clay is. It is tucked on the side street going down off the main street. The vibe at Clay is something like a dorm- bright and simple. The rooms do not have refrigerators and even the "Executive" hardly has room to put your bag down. In fact you cannot walk around the bed since it touches walls front and back. The elevators were very slow to come and my AC just barely kept the room tolerable, even after a maintenance man "fixed" it. Though the staff is super friendly and try to accomodate the guests, they are a little over their heads. When I called about the AC first they sent someone to fix the safe in the room. When I explained it wasn't that, they sent someone to fix the shower. Nope. The cleaners did a decent job of picking up, but they did not remove the uneaten food I left near the garbage can- Believe me it was pretty obvious I left it there to be thrown out. My room was on the end next to the street and it was noisy. Not terrible but if you are a light sleeper avoid this end. Breakfast was not bad but not great either. They did bring up an iron and board when asked. And everyone handled everything with a gigantic genuine smile. So for 45 bucks all in I am hardly complaining- in this case you get what you pay for and the Clay is convenient and clean. There is a good little area downstairs to hang and use the wifi. Wifi in the rooms is okay too.
