“Relaxing escape from the city below”

I used to spend a fair amount of time in Jakarta and over the weekends this was one of my favorite spots in the city. The view is great and it makes for lovely relaxing afternoon lounging in the sun with a few delicious cocktails.

“Wonderful location and atmosphere”
Reviewed January 9, 2014

We got married in Jakarta on January 4 and had booked the special top floor space which actually seats 20 people. We were only 8, but was allowed to book it if we agreed to spending a minimum of 7 million Indonesian Rupees. We almost made it to 7 mill, buying champagne, wine, great dinners etc. for all 8 of us. It was a great private room for any party, we had our own waiters and had a great time. We also got the fantastic sunset (through the windows) and the spectacular views. Going out to the balcony, we could not bring our 2 10-year old children after 6 pm and photos was only allowed by small cameras and phones, however, the overall experience was great. If you are looking to have a private party - Skye Bar is the place in Jakarta!

“So Much Potential”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

We went to the Skye Bar since we had seen lots of pictures and heard about it's amazing views. First, we were turned away because on of our members didn't fall under the dress code. Luckily, Grand Indonesia is right next door and were able to buy a change of clothes. When we finally got up, we were asked if we had a reservation, we didn't because they didn't answer the phone when we attempted to book a spot earlier. Only customers above 19 are able to go outside and watch the sunset, so I wouldn't recommend bringing your kids for dinner unless they're okay with looking out a window. There are also no professional cameras allowed, so just bring a digital camera or your phone. We were originally seated in the middle of the restaurant, but the waitress was kind enough to move us near the window to watch the sun set. The only good views are as the sun goes down and there isn't much to see at night. I had the Roasted Chicken and Forget Me Not, and both were very good. Everything was reasonably priced. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and mixed with the views makes a great combination. This place could be so much better, but they're too unorganized to really make it good.

We went to Skye for the first time. The lady from reception told us that we were not allowed to be in lounge area because our dress was not casual evening dress. We thought both of us were casual and approriate enough. Apparently while we asked someone to show us the lounge location, we saw so many people wearing casual clothes. We asked them, did we not allow to enter because my girlfriend wore hijab ? The lady reception answered the timed when we arrived was at 6 pm, which was time for casual evening dressed. We thought that her reason was irrelevant because none of people in the lounge area were wearing hijab. Also one of the reception showed unhospitality reaction. We were really disappointed because of their treatment.
