“Overall Disappointment”
Reviewed March 26, 2009

First the good news - for a “city” hotel, it is quite easy to get to from the Airport. The reception staff were very good. The bed is comfortable and the flat screen TV (not in the basic room) is nice. However, the hotel is not walker friendly (recommend the Atlet, Ritz-Carlton or JW Marriott), the lobby is boring, the bathroom is depressing (and needs better cleaning), the room furniture is well overdue for replacement and the Cafe (breakfast) has far too many seats and tables squeezed into an overly dark area space. I should have known better than to stay based upon advice from friends, my earlier visits to the lobby, restaurants and bar - however I needed to experience the rooms for myself.

I have been staying at the Mulia hotel in Jakarta for around five years now, on business trips, and the level of service has been consistently excellent. Courteous, efficient, genuine service-with-a-smile. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Breakfast buffet (though I am not a fan of buffets!) is probably the best in Asia Pacific (and I travel extensively throughtout the region) - fresh food at its best, western or oriental. The Italian restuarant and the Japanese restaurant (and also the Thai) are simply superb - there are others too but the repeat business draw on me from the Italian and Japanese is too strong! two major shopping malls - Plaza Senayan and Senayan City are five minutes down the road. The central lobby decor is one-of-a-kind kitsch, and some of the more pricier rooms have hi-tech do-everything Japanese style heated toilet seats. What else can I say? I've stayed at numerous five-star hotels all over Asia Pacific that are a rip-off in comparison. You will not be disappointed!

Stayed there for a week on business. Absolutely amazing. A gem in what I consider a jam-packed and crowded city. Traffic is the worst I've seen, so coming back to the Hotel Mulia was relaxing. All the staff is courteous, friendly and overall fantastic. I didn't meet one staff member who didn't smile and/or greet you when they saw you. The place is impeccably clean, with 4 different restaurants and 1 night club to dine/entertain. Wonderful 30 m pool and staffed fitness center. If your going to Jakarta for the first time, ensure you book your stay here. You'll need the calm, clean and relaxing atmosphere of this hotel after you fight that disgusting traffic. Nothing bad about the hotel, nothing.

I stayed for 3 weeks for business.
I was picked up from the airport free of charge although some of my colleagues were ripped off and charged!

The restaurants and food is outstanding - I'm veggie and used to be a chef so I'm very fussy and have high standards and they surpassed all expectations - if something isn't on the menu - ask!

The only draw-back to it is that it's a distance from anywhere apart from Red Square for food/drinking - and traffic in Jakarta is the worst I've seen in the whole of Asia especially in rainy season but obviously not the Hotels fault!

I can't fault anything at all. The staff are wonderful - they even went to get my medicine when I was too ill to go myself. 1st class service all the way.

I'll be back in a few weeks.

A very very good hotel, conveniently located away from the main traffic zones in Downtown Jakarta. The service is excellent, from the doormen to Check In staff to the Housekeeping staff who greet you by name! Each of the restaurants presents a great menu. In particular, try The Cafe for the best Indian buffet in Jakarta and Il Mare for some delicious Italian. The Orient had some interesting dishes but sometimes it took a while to get someone over to place an order.

After a diving trip to Manado, I celebrated a beautiful New Year's at Hotel Mulia. The service, facilities and environment at the hotel was exquisite...Although the hotel is big (999 rooms), the staff provided a very personalized and made me feel at home immediately.

Was treated like a queen here. Had a wonderful stay and am most definitely coming back for more!
