Unfriendly unmovable and typifies all the bad things about Indonesia. I love the pool and the hotel breakfast is good and the hotel has potential but it is ruined by uncomprimising staff who cant think outside rules that make little sense. So much potential so little effort!

The Sultan Jakarta is an impressive hotel, but I did have a few issues with it.

I would recommend the hotel for anyone attending a conference at the Jakarta Convention Centre - the hotel is linked by an underground tunnel, which means that you don't have to battle the traffic on the streets.

The hotel itself is aesthetically grand, and the staff were lovely and friendly, but it lacks attention to detail in some aspects, and seems like it's getting a little old. While my room was large and nicely appointed, the carpet and bedspread were stained. The bathroom was great, but the water in the shower seems to drain very slowly, so it's like you're showering in a shallow bath at times.

One thing that impressed me were the beds and the pillows - I haven't slept that well in a hotel ever.

There are several restaurants to eat at, which were all great except for the Peacock Cafe, where breakfast is also served - the buffet food wasn't all that appetising.

The gym facilities are good and the equipment seems quite new. The spa treatments are also cheap and excellent.

One big problem was internet connection, which is wireless in most areas of the hotel. Apparently there are some rooms with LAN connections, but I don't know where they are. The wireless was painfully slow at times, and it might be better to use the computers in the business centre.

The hotel is located at the city center area, which has its plus and minuses. The hotel complex is indeed very large.

The hotel is very Java in atmosphere, but has quite worn out.

The elevators are ancient, and the hallways in each floor are not air-conditioned.

Rooms, although large, has quite worn out. Bathroom also not that nice.

Breakfast was average.

Overall, the hotel is in need of renovation. They claimed to have been renovated, but highly doubtful.

I stayed in hotel during business trip. This hotel has imposing structure and has several towers inside the campus. There is no doubt that this is a magnificient built hotel and has beautiful rooms with magnificient city views. There are plenty of restaurants in hotel to chose from.

However what is missing in hotel is smiles. I havent seen any employee of hotel smiling during my stay of 2 nights. Receptionist dont smile at you, waitresses/waiters dont smile at you, luggage handlers dont smile etc etc. This was very disappointing becoz it seems that robots are working in hotel without any warmth. This hotel do not participate in Hilton lyalty program so bit of disappointment, However rates offered by hotel are competitive and rooms, food is great. So, I will definitely stay here again as I dont care about smiles. I care about facilities and this is something they dont lack.

As a 5 star hotel, we were very dissapointed with the overall service. The receptionist were not helpful when we requested for 2 single beds and we need to go about twice until we get the room that we wanted.

Hoping for best services from a 5 star hotels, my family wanted to visit the nearby malls by the shuttle service made available via internet and hotel brochure. However, when we got to the Concierge, they told us that the shuttle service is not available due to the unavailability of the transport. Worse still, we have booked the shuttle one night before. We then opted for a taxi instead.

As first timer, we wanted to explore Jakarta by enquiring some tour services available and places of recommendation. But to our dissapointment, the Concierge were not sure of the places to visit but instead, he just handed a Tour Brochure and we were expected to go through it ourselves. We were not very comfortable with the service and decided to go on our own...

No doubt, the hotel's landscape and lobby setting was very beautiful and we were impressed by the cozy ambience. The hotel should really look into improving their customer service and its staffs products knowledge.

But its services, nothing great.

Best regards,
