I have stayed at this hotel for at least 10 times over the last few years and I rate it average at best.
At first glance, it's actually quite nice looking with marble and granite everywhere. Then when you actually spend the night in the rooms you realise that it's all smoking mirrors and window dressing.
First of all the non-smoking rooms have been under renovation for the last 3 months, not good for a non-smoker like me, I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke and I don't like the smell of any air freshening products used to disguise the cigarette smoke.
Here is my laundry list of things wrong with the rooms:
The rooms are old and not that clean.
The carpets are stained.
I have not been in a single room where the wardrobe doors actually slide properly.
The bed spreads are like a petri dish of DNA samples from all the prior guests. STAINS!
The pillows are terrible.
Every time I have stayed here, there has been at least one electrical/electronic thing in each room that does not work. Last time it was the internet (could not connect via cable or wireless), another time it was the phone (would not hang up properly and the ringer kept going off randomly), one time it was the ancient tv (could not adjust volume at all), this time the air conditioner is making a funny noise like the hydraulic brakes of an 18 wheeler, all night mind you.
Toilets are small and not really all the clean with mold in the grout.
Things don't get replenished between guests, 2 times I've been here and no "Do not Disturb" sign in the room, stationary sometimes missing.

It's not all bad though, here are the good things:
Staff quite friendly ALTHOUGH the check in/check out system is very slow and inefficient, which is a hotel procedural thing and not a staff thing.
The hotel is famous for it's Soup Buntut and it is good.
Extensive room service menu (although the quality of each dish is a bit hit and miss) but at least there is a lot of choice.
A few restaurants to choose from.
Spa and in-room massage is great.
I stay here because it is convenient and close to where I do business, but I would not stay here for leisure.

Whilst a beautiful hotel from its exteriors and gardens, this hotel has seen better days.

Don't lift expectations too high for the rooms, which are filled with stained upholstery, shoddy furniture and poor lighting. The bathroom were stained around the bathtubs and creaky taps. Door handles were peeling from age. Even the complimentary water provided (Danone-Aqua) were in bottles that looked like they were a hundred years old.

And this was the upgraded deluxe room I was staying in.

If it was a day trip, this hotel would be fine. Not more than one night for sure.

The hotel claims to be 5 star - not sure if the regular hotel rooms live up to this, but the serviced apartments are 3 star at best. They're really tired and in desperate need of an update - furniture is shabby and stained, woodwork is decaying due to the tropical conditions and electrical appliances are ancient (eg the TV is not flat screen and is about 30" wide). Also, the apartment smells really musty and of damp decay and gets hardly any light due to the low balconies. Nor do they offer the little extras provided by other better hotels in Jakarta - such as free pressing of garments, free wi-fi internet etc. So despite the convenient (for work) location, the good sports facilities and the generally good service, we couldn't wait to leave!

I had not stayed in this hotel in more than 10 years, when it was managed by Interncontinental. The physical facilities are still quite well-kept, and the food was as I remembered. However, the service leaves much to be desired. It took about 20 minutes to check in, despite the fact that I was the only person checking in. Then despite the fact that my Agoda reservation stated I was to have a non-smoking room, they put me into a smoking room. One whiff and I fled! Then I was shifted to a lower grade room, with no note of the fact that I had paid (via Agoda) for a better quality, non-smoking room (which they claimed was unavailable). Then when I tried to use the internet, I was unable to get sufficient assistance over the phone and had to go back to the reception. All of this lasted about 90 minutes.

In short, it's safe, convenient for North Jakarta and probably the rates are commensurate with the room quality . But this hotel is slowly going through the changes of life, soon to lose a star (it already has, in my book).

this hotel has a unique downside: wifi is only available in "cyber " room, all the rest is world class... interior and fornitures are a little dated but charming..
The hotel is huge, so the rooms.. ballrooms, 4+ restaurants with good italian, japanese and indonesian... good room service.. olimpionic sized swimming pool, huge gym, and a good SPA..+ park and 5 tennis fields..
Is actually more of a resort in the city. located not far from the train station, is actually not in the CBD, but still a wonderfull place to be, like many good hotels in Jakarta, but i still prefer Borobodur, since it has not that attitude..hotel has a disco club part of its services

I stayed for 3 night with this hotel last september, a bit expensive though but I got a good deal from one of online booking. the main reason why i chose this hotel was i was attending an special event which was held at Musro Club located in this hotel.

The hotel is so hugeee, i was afraid that i could be lost here.. really.. the pool was fantastic, the jogging track was cool surrounding the little lake and with a lot of trees, The fitnes center was amazing.. but it seem a lot of outside guests utilize it.

If you want to eat, there are quite a lot of food selection, local, japs, italian, chinese.. the local resto is very authentic and tasty.. keep it up guys..

But the room was a bit old.... however it;s very clean, the housekeeping staffs were friendly and really helpful when i couldnt find my silver ring, they were helping me to search all over the room. thanks guys..

Will i return.. well if i get the same rate probably yes hahaha.. but highly recommend..
