The first thing that impresses you is the warmth and service levels of the entire staff at this hotel. I think its a few notches above most many hotels that I've stayed in. The second impressive point is the outstanding breakfast spread. Third, securing is great and is amongst the more safe hotels in Jakarta. Rooms are clean and the band that plays at the BATS is fantastic. The only drawback is that there are no places that you can visit in case you need venture out either for a bite or a bit of shopping.

we were chosing between Shangri la and Intercon Mid plaza, but glad that we choose Shang.
We stayed for two nite on 5-7 Oct 2012. Booked for one bedroom suite. the suite is big, with a living room and a big second bathroom. it;s really look like in the picture on the website. Bathroom in the main bedroom alswo huge with all the amenities.

The lounge is also big and has plenty of staffs attending yours need.
we arrived in the evening and checked in very fast.

We tried the buffet dinner at Satoo. it was one of the best buffet we ever had. Plenty selection of type of food.

the only issue were: we found a used plastic bag in the living room cabinet. this is unacceptable for a 5* hotel. However we forgive them because of the good staff services as well as the housekeeping./butler.

the location of the hotel is very traffic jam. we arrived at 5pm on friday nite and took us 2.5 hour to arrived to the hotel. Luckily we use Silver bird taxi so it's a comfortable traffic jam inside a Benz taxi

on Departure we booked the hotel silver bird taxi and they charged rp 300,000 to our bill. We thought this is reasonable for a Benz taxi. because it's would cost around 220k + toll also when it;s traffic to the airport.

The breakfast at Satoo was really great too. one of the best. some food selection similar to the dinner buffet menu. staff are attentive cleaning your plates as soon as you finished a meal.

We also tried the Spa- Gaya spa. the services is great, however the massage feel weak to us. may be it;s because of last booking and the therapist are tired. they are still proffesional tho.

We didnt get to try the lounge cocktail hour as we were out whole day and nite.

Remember that when you are going to Jakarta, only take blue bird group taxi, such as blue bird, pusaka, and silver bird. all the driver are honest and always go by meter. when you hand over the notes and walk out from the taxi, they always said- "the change, sir...." and i always replied " keep it". you can see a big thank you from thier face appreciating the tips. while other taxi will try to cheat you and ask the change as tips.
we took one taxi (not blue bird) and after negotiate the price ( because he wont goes by meter and we were at the Monas, no choice). while in the taxi he tried to ask for more money!.

overall it's a great hotel and I would choose this hotel again next time.

Room Tip: we chosed one bedroom suite with pool and mosque view. No problem at all with the noise.

It's the best place to stay in Jakart... Cost bit high, reception executive doesn't have any authority to rebate... Only drawback... there is no convince store... And want outside food once in awhile, very hard... The welknown bar BAT, don't even dare... It's filled with nuisance girls... ;)

Very clean, good food, and great service. The room boy was very helpful and provided me with a adapter for my cell phone charger. The buffet is amazing, such a great selection. There is a great bar and excellent entertainment. The horizon package is well worth the money.

On the pricey side but you get what you pay for. Amazing breakfast and really nice restaurants at other times too. Staff lovely and helpful. Security very very good. Pool lovely too. Rooms well appointed and well presented. Enjoy as we did

Shangri la Hotel, offered 5 star service, made welcome and taken care of from arrival to departure, gym is well equipped, pool is well maintained, but not enough sunbeds or seats to accomodate most guests, Bali massage much better than Thai massage, restaurants you are spoilt for choices, business centre is well equiped with latest PC's and helpful business manager.
Caution! anyone arriving to Jakarta take the blue bird or silver bird taxis only, I took as I thought to be a reputable taxi company, white horse, and given a ticket of the driver name and number plate, I left my mobile in the back of the taxi, and taxi driver denied it was there
The staff in the Shangri la, done there best to help me, thanking the duty manager jsuta caution to others arriving to Jakarta using trustworthy taxis
fully recomend the Shangri La hotel, well situated also

I had an extended business trip to Jakarta and had the good fortune that my local company recommended this hotel above other "comparable" 5 star hotels. I spend half of my year in hotels and have come to appreciate that it is the "small & personal" things which make this life style more palatable, and sometimes positively enjoyable. The Shangri La Jakarta has all the facilities expected of a luxury hotel so I will not repeat what other reviewers have already said about these, but I will say that ALL the staff made my stay a "home from home". Particular credit goes to all the waiters, barmen, servers, chefs and managers in the Horizon Club lounge ... this lounge far exceeds my experiences and expectations of normal club lounges ... hot, cold and asian themed breakfasts served buffet style OR served to your tables, selections of finger foods and drinks throughout the day, long complimentary cocktail hours with full bar service (as opposed to a limited selection) AND all served by excellent, well trained and super professional staff. They are a credit to the hotel and the service industry. The Italian restaurant located on the premises (Rosso) was recommended for Sunday brunch. It was perfect for the quality and selection of cuisine and the accompanying drinks. The assistant F&B manager was helping as a meet and greet person, and he and multiple other staff came to ask frequently if they could help further. Great attention to detail and to service without being overly intrusive, and the venue itself is far more intimate and luxurious then most typical "coffee shop type hotel brunch venue". I would recommend you reserve in advance as it was it was fully booked my first week. (I also tried brunch at the Intercon and Rosso is far superior). A cocktail evening for "long stay / loyal guests" in the Presidential suite was also a welcome break and appreciated.
