Second stay at the Mandarin Oriental and I have to say that I like this hotel a lot!

Situated in the heart of Jakarta, the Mandarin Oriental has been completely renovated and is now offering large rooms with full services / amenities. The rooms are fully equiped, bright and very clean, it is a pleasure to stay there.

The service is also very good, always helpful but never too present (I dont like it when people stand behind me, I need some air!).

Mo's bar is a lively place on the Tuesday nights (thanks to its manager Vivi! ;) ) and a good place to relax and have a drink the other days.

The gym is nice with new equipment and I also had a massage at the spa during my first stay which was very pleasant.
THe only negative point is the swimming pool which is a little bit small, but that should not stop you from staying there.

I will definitely come back to this hotel and enjoy the freshness and enthousiasm of its personnel!

The hotel is a rare gem (as are most in the Madarin oriental Group) as it ticks all the boxes for a stay and offers that special je ne sais quoi when you most need it.

Perfect location - near everything you need (and a fleet of onsite E-class mercs to ferry you around for great value prices! Must be the cheapest e-class ride in the world...)
Lovely rooms - the hotel is practically brand new so it is a pleasure to use all the gadgets and see the modern yet tasteful design
Superb food - form the club lounge to the onsite restaurants, it is faultlessly delivered
Amazing gym - all the latest kit in there
Nice pool, lovely lounge and great bar
Really nice spa area.

Overall, it is impossible to find fault in this place and when you stay ask to meet the GM, Andrew Abrams, a really nice chap form Scotland. The staff are what really sets the palce apart and Andrew has to take credit for that. My preferred place of stay in Jakarta by far. Bob.

I have already reviewed this hotel back in April but had the pleasure of returning again in July and was interested to see if the hotel could retain the outstanding level of service I had experienced on my two previous trips.

The easy answer is that they could not maintain the level of service I had previously enjoyed. It was even BETTER!!!! I don't know how they do it, but the service in this hotel is simply out of this world.

If you are going to Jakarta whether for business or pleasure, do yourself a favour and stay at the MO. You will not be disappointed and will keep returning.

And yes, the lovely smiles are also still there all around the hotel so even after the most stressful of days, you immediately relax upon walking through the MO's doors. I have to return for business in August and can't wait.

This hotel is nicely refurbished, and with a dedicated kind staff.

Rooms very very nice, however an extra chair next to the sofa would be nice, gym is awesome very good and top of the line "machine park". I had a club room the club was nice and relaxed. The pool area is not so nice, mainly a oversized plunge pool for parents travelling with children. But with the high level gym, you can exercise in the gym.

Food was good.

The staff is professional and helpful.

I stayed for 5 good nights

I was worried the Mandarin, as a business hotel, would not be family-friendly for our visit with our 8-month old baby to see extended family and friends in Jakarta. It turned out to be the most family-friendly hotel possible. There are plenty of big 5-Star hotels in Jakarta, but the personal service at the Mandarin was superior in every way. From the front desk to the swimming pool and executive lounge, everyone was very friendly and professional. We left a big mess every morning at breakfast, but the cafe staff were so friendly we were sorry to leave. Because I was traveling partly on business, we received a corporate rate through my office, and the club room package was great. Free wi-fi, free local calls, free executive lounge, free minibar. We also received a baby bed and high chair in our room for free. We brought guests to the executive lounge and the charge was very reasonable. The staff know their jobs, and during our 6-day stay we came up with some unusual requests, but they responded graciously to each one. Our only complaint was that in one of our two rooms, the air conditioner vent pointed straight at the beds. I know the hotel would have given us a different room if we asked, but we wanted to have adjacent rooms. A previous reviewer, Cendut, says everything at this hotel is too small. For my money, I'll take the superior personalized service of the smaller Mandarin over the 1,000 room places where we would have been just another room number.

After a complete refurb, The Mandarin Oriental is now one of the best hotels in Indonesia. Centrally located on Jalan Thamrin, right opposite some of the plushest malls in the city (and indeed the country), this hotel now has more than just location going for it.

We got a club room and the facilities could not be faulted. Whereas some five-star hotels are a bit glitzy and gauche, the furnishing here was tasteful and refined. Everything from the lamps to the wallpaper had been carefully selected. The bed was very comfortable.

Club rooms included free use of the mini-bar (except for the bottle of Moet!) This was very handy to say the least. Just as good was the food in the Club Lounge. Even the afternoon tea offered a wide range of sandwiches and hot meals. With a Club Room, there is absolutely no need to eat anywhere else. (Nor would you be likely to do any better outside). All in all, this is certainly a hotel worth recommending.
