I have stayed a the Intercon a number of times and figure I would finally do a write up about it.
The Food: Since they completed the renovations of the Rasa Restaurant, you will find the food is in a class of its own. Chef Gary Palme has created a unique system where the chefs are out from behind the wall and interacting with the public. The food goes from the grill to your plate in no time , it is unique to have them make a Caesar salad mixed in a big bowl of parmesan cheese, it is these small touches that sets the food in this hotel apart. If you have an urge for comfort food, the burgers are truly the best you will have anywhere.
The Service: This where this hotel separates itself from the others. It is smaller than the other 5 star hotels and there is much more of a friendly, family attitude. I met the Director of Rooms Edy Handrias to congratulate him on one of the quickest check in services I have seen in a long time. They have the correct number off staff who are skilled but more importantly they always have a floor supervisor watching over to make sure it goes efficiently and quickly. I love the luggage crew at this hotel, these guys seem to love their job and are often seen running across the lobby to help someone with their luggage, it is truly unique and for me, standing in line is pretty much my worst possible nightmare.
The Executive Lounge: Now this is truly the secret gem of this hotel if you travel on business. The Lounge is run by an expert staff led by the lounge mother Puspa Kirana. I call her the lounge mother as she knows every ones name, greets us all with a warm smile, seems to remember what we like to drink, truly the best at what she does. The value for money of the lounge is brilliant. The food concept from the Rasa is in the lounge as well as they have an open cooking station with a chef to make our breakfast and at happy hour always cooks a different dish each night. The food lay out is more like a buffet than a lounge, well thought out, well presented and always fresh, this applies in the morning and evening. You will find that the quality and quantify of the food and drink is such that once you come in from a day in Jakarta traffic, you will stay in the lounge, eat and drink and be thankful that Puspa and her staff are keeping such good care of you and you are not out fighting the Jakarta rush hour traffic.
I have stayed in all the big hotels in Jakarta, and stayed in them for long periods of time, and for my money, this is the only hotel to stay in, in Jakarta if you are here on business, location is excellent, it is quiet, the service is peerless and the facilities are first rate... as I say The Perfect 10
