We went on a weekend night and it was bustling with life. There were lots of people playing music, hanging out with family and friends, street artists in full costumes, street food as well as restaurants in the vicinity. If you are visiting Jakarta, this is a must. Experience how locals enjoy old town. You get to see the colonial Jakarta buildings. There is a museum Museum Bank Indonesia but it was closed at night time.
We had dinner at Batavia Cafe and the food was good (little on the pricey side but not too much).
There is no entrance fee for Old Town (Kota)
