This is the only restaurant we know of in Jakarta still serving dishes in traditional-colonial rijsttafel style, which is still a pleasant experience that doesn't grow tired. There was also a musician troupe singing from table to table during our visit on a Saturday night.
We've been to the restaurant the last 3 decades & it continues to exhume old-world Batavia charm, especially with original tiles in some rooms & furniture/building structure wood from ancient trees. The place has been upgraded to include air-conditioning & some revamp of the decor, since our last visit several years ago.
It's a nice place to go on a date, entertain guests or just go for a family meal. The food is not the tastiest Indonesian or European dishes in town but the overall experience is still worth a visit.
