What a jewel! This must be jakartas best place for a Rijsttafel. The beautiful old mansion brings you - in a pleasant way - back to the grandeur of colonial times. The food is delicious and is served by a whole line of nice ladies, each holding up a different dish. How unusual! They circle around the table and fill up your plate by the dishes of your choice.

It is certainly not the cheapest place in Jakarta but for european standards it is fine. And it probably attracts only a certain type of guests. But if you like great food and if you enjoy the historic atmosphere, then this is a very special place to go to.

If you want to have a special way of eating the traditional "Rijsttafel", the Oasis in Jakarta is the place to go. 1 warning though: prices are really adjusted to the mainly foreign/expect guests, so be prepared to pay a lot more than you are used to in Jakarta, however it is worth the experience and the good food!

This is a grand restaurant - housed in an interesting old colonial building.
When you enter, someone rings a gong, and double doors "magically" open for you!

We had the a function here, and got served the restaurant famous Rastafel (spelling?).
The starter was a bit of gado gado, very ordinary.
then Mie Soto - which I prefer the street version.

then the Rastafel was served in a grand affair.
again, it starts with a gong, and a stream of 12 ladies come in the dining room, each holding a dish. It felt that there were more staff than guests at our function, but all quite interesting.
The beef satay was very good, but every things quite forgettable.
Unfortunately, after it is being served, you realize, there isn't really a lot of food. (see picture).

This is great restaurant to bring your non-Indonesian friends. Nice ambience, the form factor is impressive. But for those in the know, there are much better, much much better Indonesian food in town.

Excellent restaurant with good service. You will be greeted with traditional indo music at the entrance, while the restaurant itself have live music performances (a band sings love songs + live jazz band with good singer). We were 1 of the only 2 tables in the restaurant that night, that's good enough for us to enjoy a romantic dinner. And there are quite a lot of decorations around the restaurant as well (in the smaller room near the entrance), it's good to look around!

Having meal in this restaurant is worth every penny, since you need to dig deep in your pocket and yes you still need to reserve a table. Starting with the appetizer an Escargot covered in garlic, and after that come the real meal.

I remember tried the juicy yet tender beef they called Singa Sari (if I'm not mistaken) medium raw and while my wife tried it's mouthwatering Lamb Rose. Oh and the ambiance feels like a 19th century Dutch or European setting, that we thought first it was a Middle East resto judging by it's name :)

Well, this one you must try if you call yourself a meat lover :)
