Without doubt, the strongest point of Akmani is the fantastic location in a safe and convenient neighbourhood just round the corner to Plaza Indonesia area (5 minutes by cab). It’s directly opposite the Ibis Arcadia, in case taxis don’t know it by name. Typical modern “boutique” styled hotel, meaning clean lines and budget layouts made to look chic. Easy access to the lobby without the security of the big hotels, which is refreshing for a change.

The large room was spanking new, spotless, and had a king-sized bed of the extremely soft variety – comfy for some, but those used to firmer mattresses will suffer badly! Sheets were of the lowest thread-count possible, fine for the price I guess but this wasn’t a bed we had too much trouble getting out of in the mornings. Shower cubicle looks into the bedroom via full-length glass, but strangely the screen for this is on the outside of the bathroom, so good luck if you have a cheeky roommate! Shower had decent water pressure and amenities, but the temperature varied from scalding hot to barely warm as the water ran, which was extremely annoying. TV kinda small for the size of the room, but good selection of English channels. Thin walls meant noise in the corridors and adjacent rooms could be heard clearly, and curtains do not block out morning light completely.

Service was prompt and courteous enough, if hopeless when asked to go beyond the standard check-in/check-out procedure. Concierge failed miserably when asked to book restaurants – I was even asked to supply the phone number to a very famous restaurant! We put the do not disturb sign on, and housekeeping was ridiculous enough to call, waking us to ask if we really meant “do not disturb”, and to call them once we were ready for cleaning. Despite what another reviewer said (and what the concierge echoed), Martha Tilaar spa is not a pleasant walk away – Jkt streets aren’t pedestrian friendly and it was a hot, dusty trip that could be saved with a cheap 6000 rupiah cab ride in 2 minutes.

All things considered, one can’t really knock Akmani for value, given the location and the newness of things. If you just need a bed and a decent shower, then this probably is a better option than most, but forget the other niceties like restaurant, club/disco (a joke!) and a nice lounge. A solid 3 star option in an area where you’d find yourself in a different price range altogether if you wanted slightly more luxury. Although I feel luxury is worth paying for in a city like Jakarta, where it helps to have a selection of F&B/entertainment in-house.

Stayed here for couple days, just for relaxing and this hotel is very pretty and fairly new. It uses lots of Western furniture style. HOnestly, it is part of the reason why i stayed there.
In the morning, buffet was just one word : excellent. It gave enough food and plenty of option, allow you to take away as well (if requested, quietly). However, the service is quite slow.
Addition to those, the location, free cable internet and large-size room makes the hotel very excellent choice for short trip.

Excellent downtown city location, but not too much light and noise if you get a higher-up room, great staff, can store luggage, and without being outstanding the rooms are well-appointed and do the job. Wide choice for breakfast is a plus. We had one glitch where they first assigned us a 'smoking' room on a 'smoking' floor, but quickly ironed out.

Akmani Hotel in Jakarta is very modern and stylish. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Service is always very good. Price is absolutely okay for a hotel of this standard in a city where you're in need of a good accomodation but want to avoid the big chains. Offers a pool (quite small) and business centre. Internet access at the rooms only wired, Wifi only in funtion rooms and lobby. Centrally located but still unknown by most cab drivers.

I stayed at The Akmani for 2 nights from June 4-6; it was for a quick weekend break. I was searching for a place that provides good amenities, with access to restaurants, day spas and within walking distance to shopping malls. I love this hotel's location most of all!

For the work weary needing some TLC, the popular Martha Tilaar Day Spa is within 8 minutes walk on the same side of the hotel. The Bersih Sehat Wellness Massage center is just across the road, so you can manage to squeeze in an hour of "pijat" even before your afternoon flight out of Jakarta. If you're just too weary, the hotel itself is connected to a Spa, nextdoor.
Circle K (a sundry chain) is just across the road for small things like toiletries & snacks. Restaurants are all around, my taxi driver recommended Garuda restaurant as one of the best Indonesian Nasi Padang restaurant in Jakarta (and indeed it was). There's also a night-club next to Circle K, if you're looking for some entertainment. Otherwise you can walk to the left corner of the road to Sarinah Mall for entertainment, more fastfood restaurants & some shopping. Those who are into wholesale bargains, the Tanah Abang complexes is about 15mins away by taxi (it will probably take you around 20 minutes or so on foot); it is on a straight road to the left of hotel. The Great Jakarta Summer Sale was on during my stay, shops in both Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia were offering branded & luxury items at upto 70% discounts (I'm told that this occurs twice yearly in Jakarta - in June and December). And these two big city malls are just within 15-20 mins by taxi.

The hotel is indeed a great place to go back to after a full day of walking-about. The lobby is modern in design (darkwood & metallic) and the theme is carried through to the rooms. It has al-fresco sitting area for smokers if you are one. My room was on the 7th floor and it faces the back and therefore was quiet & restful. Breakfast buffet is tasteful with a mixture of local and western dishes; sufficient in variety and not too elaborate nor wasteful. The price is reasonable (USD145 for 2 nights); and I chose to book through Agoda as it offered the best value at the time. Most importantly, the hotel accommodated the room specs that I requested through the site. The only shortfall I find is from a gassy smell that comes up from the drainpipes at the shower area whenever I turn on hot water.

You can access the hotel's Free Wi-Fi connection on the lobby level for light internet surfing and i had no problem doing so on my iPhone. The only complain I have is the steep staircase at the entrance which pose a challenge when you have a lot of heavy luggage or shopping bags to carry in. You probably need to ask security to allow your car/taxi to drive into the parking bay area & drop you off at the lift on the ground level.
This to me is a good hotel for business trips, weekend breaks, buddy & shopping holidays and for singles. I'd definitely stay here again as well as recommend it to my friends.
