Akmani Hotel
Ranked #183 of 471 Hotels in Jakarta
Reviewed May 4, 2010

I stayed three (3) nights at the Akmani Hotel. It proved to be an excellent place to stay with a not too unreasonable price.

The Akmani is relatively new hotel. The hotel is centrally located in Jakarta within easy walking distance of Starbucks, Chilli's, Plaza Indonesia and other places to visit. The staff was very helpful and courteous. I booked a Deluxe room via Agoda and paid $65 per night (incl. breakfast). There was an additional 5% discount if you booked with a UOB credit card. I requested a non-smoking room (on a non-smoking floor) and received one. This is a not a small feat considering the prevalence of smoking in Indonesia. In fact, some of my friends stayed in "non-smoking rooms" in a nearby popular, chain hotel and they reeked of cigarette smoke. The bathroom was spacious.

The room itself was big and open. It was a little noisy but given the location of the hotel, I guess that can be expected. The rooms were tastefully decorated with decent materials. The only big drawback with the hotel was the lack of WiFi in the rooms. There is free WiFi available in the lobby and one of the restaurants but not in the rooms themselves. That can be a big drag if you have to do work, check email, or whatever else especially if you are using a smart phone or tablet computer as I was. The only disconcerting thing for some would be the glass partition that separates the shower area from the bedroom. This seems to be a new thing in "chic" hotels, so its not unique to the Akmani. There is a window shade type of thing that can be used to block of the view, but its not well executed in my opinion.

I have travelled to Jakarta several times for work and typically stay at 5 star hotel that costs 2.5x more. Since this was a personal trip, I decided to give the Akmani a try given the relative cost. I can say that for the money spent, quality of room and service, I think its a real, real bargain and couldn't in all honesty justify spending more (with my own money) at a 5 star hotel.

If u intend to stay near Thamrin and have limited budget, this hotel is worth considering. First of all, rooms are chic and very well decorated. Tho the rooms are small, but if u're staying in town, most probably will be out shopping or for business. Window is very small tho it's a floor to ceiling, it's only bout 1/2meter wide. Bed is comfortable but the the quilt is low quality. Maybe 100% polyester. And thread-count for the bed linen is probably less than 250. A little rough for me. Since the bed is as low quality, it's a little warm staying inside the blanket. Breakfast is average but not bad. Very stingy on late check-out and they uses premier cab, so u gotta flag for your own cab at the main road in front of hotel. Pool is small but sufficient. Shower room in gym and spa has got no hairdryer or bath amenities. Gotta bring from room.
Location is very good. Next to Syarinah for simple shopping. Cinema and 24hrs eateries opposite the hotel Very good massage at 'Bersih Sehat' opposite hotel. Opposite Sabang for late nite sate or fried rice. less than 10mins away by cab to Plaza Indonesia shopping area or Tanah Abang (If there's no jam). But since it's 1 way street, the way back is always double the journey. So gotta expect longer travelling time on the way back to hotel. I got caught in a jam from Tanah Abang to Akmani Hotel and i took me 45mins to reach hotel!!
Overall, can consider coming back to Akmani or might consider Nikko since it's only just across the Plaza Indonesia.

I was staying in this hotel last november for 4 nights on the way back home from Bali. I chose this hotel due to its strategic location.. close to everywhere ; Shopping mall, nightlife, historical places.. just to mention few of it. If you feel hungry in the night and hesitate to order from room service simply go down and there is a goooood nasi goreng stall right infront of the hotel.. love it
the room is chic and elegant.. since i am a big fan of black color so i really felt warm inside my room hahaha. the minus thing is the bathroom.. it has a glass wall where somebody can see you taking a shower from the bed room.. next time i go to jakarta again.. this is my first choice..

I stayed at Akmani hotel from 16-18 Jan with my friend. We booked a Double Deluxe Room. Here's what we think about the hotel:
Room: Consider small, but adequate for 2 person. New and clean with comfortable bed. We love the transparent bathroom. Just the window a bit small. I think the Grand Deuxe room offer a better panoramic view. Because its a boutique hotel, so i guess the lighting were designed in such an ambience mode (dim). Water pressure ok.

Hotel and staff: But overall is ok. Breakfast is sufficient. No problem at all. We were impressed by the housekeeping. Very thoughful. The Spa open untill 2am. Gym rather small. Very small.

Location: Although its not exactly central, but getting a blue bird cab to the CBD/shopping are is not a problem at all. And it only cost about few Singapore Dollar. The hotel is surrounded by many shops and eateries. Umnlike other big hotel, if you feel bored at night, you can just walk across the road and get some coffee, or watch a movie. For your information, The Ibis Acacia is just opposite. Heard they offer a bigger room and better price. But of course, Akmani hotel is the most smart looking hotel in this area.

Price: We paid US$95 a night, booked directly from their website. We felt its ok. Anyway, with so much to shop (Jakarta Sales), one hardly enjoy the amenities. If you pay another US$100 more, we think we will choose Pan Pacific. Its nearer and looks better.

Complain: All good, except one. The aircon. first night was ok. But 2nd night. The aircon was not cold at all.

So, if you are thinking of this hotel and with US$100 a night. I think this is a good choice.

This is a pretty new hotel, they tried very good to make it look trendy. It 's a very modern hotel with enough facilities. We stayed in the Akmani cause of the nice looks and the special offer they had. Because of the ramadan and the special offer, I can't say it was very busy. The morning buffet was good, enough food left for us cause of the ramadan. The only thing that was anoying us, was the staff who were working very slow (maybe due to the food they didn't eat by day).
