breakfast was good and varied - had Indonesian, western & Chinese offerings
swimming pool is short and in breakfast/event room - don't go if you are shy
rooms are decent; however mine had only one outlet to plug all my electronics into
located on good street with many restaurants and near Sarinah store - buy batik there
across the street from a great massage and sushi place

I paid USD80 and found this to be a very comfortable place in chaotic Jakarta.

Room
I was upgraded to suite for free because they only had rooms near the nightclub. Both rooms were well decorated, dark but comfy. Bed comfortable. Bathroom modern. Safe, hair dryer etc.

Hotel
Very friendly service, gave me free upgrade, called taxis etc. Lobby is not much, but there is a teashop and restaurant. No real amenities here.

Location
Many restaurants and a few shops, and malls nearby. Traffic bad, but that's Jakarta. There wasn't as much around the area as I had predicted. You have to take taxis to malls or sites. Desk will call a bluebird for you.

Room Tip: Upper floor. Bottom floors are right above the nightclub.

Akmani is situated @ one of the busiest parts of Jakarta. It is a 30 minute drive from the airport in terms of distance but you might end up taking an hour considering Jakarta's notorious traffic. We stayed for 1 night and this was one of those hotels which made us feel that this was definitely worth staying for future trips. The lobby is pretty small and there is a cafe sharing space with the lobby. The rooms offer a decent view of the city, mostly construction sites & slum-like dwellings. We stayed in a deluxe room which was quite big enough and very clean with plush interiors. The bathroom (the main part of any room) was spacious, the beds big and cosy and lots of space to walk about. The staff are friendly and kind enough to offer us non-smoking, non-connecting door rooms which we had not asked for @ the first place when we reserved online. Breakfast was good, mostly international with some native dishes as well. Plaza Indonesia & Grand Indonesia, JKTs biggest malls are minutes away from the hotel, probably 10 to 15 mins if you take a cab. Cab services (Blue bird to be specific) are available anytime and the reception staff can help book in advance. A few minimarts, multicuisine restaurants and even a cinema hall are at walking distance from the hotel. Was surprised to see Komalas (Indian vegetarian cuisine) just next to the hotel. Overall its a good value for money.

I have now stayed at the Akmani three times, and this is my first review.

The good things:
* Location. Though the immediate surroundings are messy and near-chaotic with traffic,
the Akmani is near many useful places: supermarket, several fast-food (local and
international), department store, bars, and transport. I've stayed in many different Jakarta
hotels and this one is really convenient for mid-range things.
* Quiet rooms. Quite an achievement, considering the hotel is near a Mosque.
* Breakfast selection: I disagree somewhat with other reviewers who said there weren't
enough choices, or that ingredients were poor. The breakfast buffet is fine. The only
comment I could make would be to avoid the major crowds from about 7:30 - 8:45 AM,
especially so many very young children running around. No big deal.
* Green option. Hotel gives customers the choice about changing linens, more or less a
standard option now.
* Bathroom. The toilets have the "bottom washer" (how to say this right?) if one wants to
use it.

The other things:
* Bathroom: by design, no hot water at all in the wash basin, and (not by design) sometimes
no hot water in showers either due to overuse. Also, as others have said, I don't see the
point in having a window between the shower and the room, though there is an opaque
curtain available.
* TV is a bit small and doesn't swivel, so if you are working on the computer at the desk and
want to watch TV, it's not easy.
* Lighting. At night, the room is dark. The standard lighting is nowhere near enough--at
least not for me.
* Security. There is a desk at the front entrance. Sometimes a guard was checking parcels
thoroughly, but most of the time not at all. It just seemed random. And the chain lock had
been removed from the room door. There is a double-bolt lock, but it looks strange to see
the remaining bits of former security locks still there.
* Water: most people visiting Indonesia would know not to drink tap water anywhere. Akmani
does supply bottled water. But when Housekeeping replaced a broken hot water kettle, and
I went to fill it with tap water for boiling (that would make it safe, right?), the man looked
horrified and insisted I boil the bottled water instead. OK, this was for my protection but
also there was no sign in the bathroom, in any language, warning people not to drink or
even boil the water.
* Internet: free cable in the room, but often very, very slow due (I guess) to limited bandwidth.
There was no wireless in the room, but even if there had been, I think it would have been
worse than the cable, which works OK for casual use.
I'd put this between three and four stars, but finally give it four because it is excellent value for money compared with similarly priced hotels I have used before. Caution: often fully booked.

Stayed for two nights on a short trip to Jakarta.

This hotel exceeded our expectations in terms of room comfort. The location is excellent. Plaza Indonesia and grand Indonesia is minutes away by taxi, which can easily be found right outside the hotel.
There are many restaurants and convenience stores around the hotel.

Breakfast is just so so. You're better off eating outside the hotel. But it has
All the essentials, bread, some traditional Indonesian food, egg station, sausages. There is variety but wish they would use higher quality ingredients.

All in all, it was a pleasant experience. We will definitely return to this hotel

My colleague and I was staying here 4D/3N. The service was great from the staff that would great you from the entrance untill the reception. The thing is they might need a porter to stand by around the receptionist area and help the guest for their luggages. None shows their offer to do that, even they saw us with a bunch of stuff.

The room is very tidy, wide space, good amenities, also with the bathroom. But after our second day, there was problem with the door's handle of the bathroom. Bit broken.

We have the room including with breakfast. The restaurant serve a buffet breakfast. Food was okay. The staff would greet you after you get out from the lift and enter the restaurant. The waiters are very attentive. Great service!

Very nice that I can go to the fitness center on the first floor, every morning.
Would like to stay here for the next business trip.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the view facing to the main street.

The Akmani Hotel (akmanihotel.com) is conveniently located close to the Sarinah shopping center and the building that houses several UN agencies. The morning breakfast is excellent, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the laundry is priced reasonably. The hotel is nesat a busy area but still is able to provide quiet rooms. The room is pleasant, although the TV screen is a bit small. This is a hotel worth considering when in Jakarta. On the downside, there was never enough hot water for the shower, either in the morning or at night, because the demand exceeds the hotel’s ability to provide hot water. There’s also no hot water for the bathroom sink and no hairdryer. The internet, through an ethernet cable, is free.
