Description: Attracted by the rich culture and excellent food of Toscana, Italian fifth largest region, Mrs. Ellyta Soetantyo opened a fine Italian restaurant in Kemang, South of Jakarta on 27th of July 1996 called Toscana. With the atmosphere of gourmet revolved around eclectic food served in traditional style, Mrs. Ellyta bravely presented something different, A straight foward but elegant restaurant that served stage of the art Italian food usually confined to five star hotel. Even though located a bit from other restaurant in Kemang at that time, Toscana was recognized by expatriates living in surrounding areas. Finding the food suited their taste, they became regulars and in away, created a solid base of customers for Toscana. Toscana Jakarta won as The Best Italian Restaurant from Jakarta Java Kini Award and Indonesia Tattler Award, and also won Runner Up from Now Jakarta Award. Determined to follow its success, the management expand its business to Jl. Kayu Aya - Seminyak, an area of many exclusive hotels and fine restaurants. There are Ultimo Italian Restaurant - Where Everything's Excellent, Rumours - Everything you hear is true and Char Char Bar&Grill.

“Best Italian restaurant”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Best Italian restaurant in Jakarta. Nice ambience, excellent and fresh food. Excellent pizzas. Good service and well trained staff.

PS: ... and they serve water free-of-charge unlike most restaurant in Jakarta where almost all of them charge for water.

“The real Italian restaurant on Jakarta”
Reviewed May 19, 2013 via mobile

This small restaurant on Kemang area has all the characteristics of an Italian restaurant: very nice food, cozy environment, nice chef, nice wine.
As a tip you can bring your own bottle of wine to drink on the restaurant.
I strongly suggest you to try "Caprese Salad" as the first course and the "Pollo a la parmigiana", which is a very nice chicken plan with eggplant and mozzarella cheese, as main course.
Another recommendation is to book your time in advance because the restaurant is small and a lot of people like to have dinner there during the weekends.

“New Menu is very pricey”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

We've always enjoyed Toscana and were long time patrons but were shocked to see a recent large price increase across the board on the menu that made it more expensive than many of the Italian restaurants we patronize in the states. Some menu prices doubled or more - a pizza is now about 130,000 rupiah instead of 60 or 70,000 rupiah, and many main course prices were much higher. We had reservations for dinner tonight but simply walked out after seeing the prices. The restaurant, which typically is packed on a Friday night was empty but for two tables. Really sad and we will be taking our business elsewhere.

“Italy or Indonesia?”
Reviewed May 7, 2013

Thought this restaurant had better food than we had at some places in Italy! The Indonesian waitress knew the menu well and service was excellent. A true oasis in the midst of the chaotic traffic that is Jakarta. Only down side was sitting next to some inconsiderate smokers on the next table, more of Indonesia's problem than the restaurants.
