“a beautiful place with character which is rare in Jakarta”

A real nice place. Good food, nice atmosphere and music. Really a place to go for lunch, dinner or simply for a drink in the old Jakarta.

“nice with it´s many photographs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2014

We were there because its mentioned in the lonely planet and we were just round the corner. The interieur is really very nice. It has a colonial style all over and everywear are photographs on the walls from important persons or stars and starlets. Often with the name of the photographer and name of the person depicted.

The prices are definitely slightly high and you meet mainly europeans there, just like i old day one could say.

We did not eat something, becaue we were not hungry, but the traditional drinks like bir bentak are quite good, but expensive. You can get them elswere for less money. The watermelon I had was not better than elsewere.

But to have a good look over the place and just for the atmosphere it is worth a visit.

The stuff is helpfull and all are speaking english.

“Well worth a visit - great ambiance”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 4, 2014 via mobile

Cafe Batavia is a really nice spot for a casual or more special meal. The ambiance is warm colonial and the service was friendly and helpful. The band downstairs in the band area was very good and the location just on Fatahillah Square in Old town.

On the down side the food is average, especially for the price, and the service was slow, even more so when considering that the restaurant was less than half full.

“A must stop in the Old Town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2014

We stopped at Cafe Batavia as part of the tour with ''Hidden Jakarta Tour '' . The Cafe is really what the name is : a cafe and a very nice one as such ! The decoration is very nice and has a mix of colonial and exotic which makes it very interesting ! It is the perfect stop for a refreshment or a coffee ! If you plan to eat there , you better not be in an hurry or needing a comfortable seat as service is very slow and the place seems to be permanently crowded ! I cannot rate the food as we did not have the time to eat but only to make a refreshment stop !
It is still part of the history of Jakarta and a must in the Old Town !
