Description: Historical Dining Experience Cafe Batavia's Dutch Colonial Building & Interior Design. "It's A Must Visit while you're in Jakarta"

Apart from the vibrant club scene, there are not that many must see places in Jakarta. Cafe Batavia on the historic Fatahillah in Jakarta's old city (Kota) is one of them. This is a place where you can go for drinks at the bar or a very good meal and some groovy music without the noise and hassle of the clubs. I distinctly enjoy a place where I can savor a great scotch and here my partner speak.
Cafe Batavia exists in a time warp reminiscent of Rick's American Bar in Casablanca (in the movie of the same name). The place is redolent of colonial times and I recommend going there if only for the decor and the old world atmosphere. It feels real here and not like a disneyesque or Vegas clone.
The restaurant serves good cuisine, although I'm not sure that I would brave the Jakarta traffic for it, if it were not for the atmosphere of the place. Once you're there though, it's an oasis of comfort and pleasure.
The decor is unique and the standouts are the long bar, the hundreds of photos on the walls of celebs of yesteryear, including an iconic one of Sukarno, the father of the nation, and the very comfortable upstairs lounge. One can spend many a pleasant hour here.
A great advantage of the ambiance is that you can concentrate on the live music on offer most nights.
Don't miss this place when in Jakarta.

Placed in the center of Jakarta, one fine old-fashioned style restaurant with the concept from colonial decade. Lots of picture frames on every wall of the interior building include the rest room.
The menus, was a great ones. This place present the luxurious of the colonial decade with its own style.

Cafe Batavia is one of those places that you have to visit in Jakarta, it has this ancient colonial dutch atmosphere with a nice comfortable decor. Food includes both duth specialties as well as indonesian, a visit is wel worth your time. The place is close to several museums, so after doing the dutiful visits to the various cultural abodes, you can rest your weary feet and body at Cafe Batavia

A high class restaurant and bar at a great location, right across Fatahillah Museum in the Old Town. It's got great ambience, especially at night. Food and drinks are overpriced.

You feel as if you have time travelled as soon as you enter this place. The food is amazing and reasonable. This place gets crowded very quickly once the lunch time approaches so would suggest you get in early and experience the bliss away from the hustle bustle of the busy street outside.
