The reception staff was very friendly and accomodating to my requests. The room was gorgeous, VERY clean and had a great view of the Welcome Statue.
Location is great for shopping in Plaza Indonesia and Grand Indonesia Mall.

Had two deluxe rooms here from 24-28 Sep for my parents and I.
This is one hotel where the real thing is as good or even better than the pics on the hotel website.
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel.
Throughout the stay, we received nothing less than the best, sincere, gracious service from all the staff. From the chauffeur, to the doormen, to the security, to the concierge, you name them, we were warmly welcomed wherever we went. By the second day, the doormen knew me by name (and I'm not a VIP staying in a suite).
The building is actually an old icon which has been refurbished to become a truly modern hotel. The interior decor is stunning. Totally loved it.
The room was excellent. Very spacious and modern. Impeccably kept with contemporary decor different from other run-of-the-mill 5* hotels. Very impressive. Complimentary, fast and reliable WiFi available in the rooms.
The bathroom was wonderful. There was a separate shower stall and w/c and also a big bathtub.
The highlight was the fully automated toilet. It took a bit of guessing to figure it out at first but once done, it was pretty fun to use. And nothing beats a heated toilet seat =)
The location is great. It's linked to the huge Grand Indonesia Shopping Town (the name says it all). When u enter the mall from the hotel's exit, you are in the posh part of the shopping complex. But as you explore further down, you get to the more 'normal' shops and stuff. Food easily found too esp at the foodcourt on the skybridge level. If you're into bargaining, you can also make the short walk to Thamrin City mall across from the complex.
Security is suitably thorough with metal detectors and all bags being checked at every entry/exit. Some may find this a bit annoying or inconvenient but I for one felt safer. Anyway, the security ppl were always very professional and friendly.
I strongly recommend the hotel and the next time I am in Jakarta, I will definitely book this place again in a heartbeat.

I love this hotel mainly because its location. We stayed in one of the deluxe rooms and had an amazing view to the fountain outside. The room was very clean; I ran my fingers through various nooks (the headboard of the bed especially) and found no trace of dust. The toilet is super roomy and we were downright impressed with the uber hi-tech toilet. You don't see a lot of those in Jakarta. Breakfast was quite nice although the selection were rather small. The dining room were very bright and spacious, and the service impeccable. Two of Jakarta's most prestigious malls are just within walking distance, so you could always go out for some entertainment if you so wish. Free wi-fi is available in the room and although it's nothing fast or fancy, it's functional when you want to just do your e-mails or other basic internet-related tasks.

The evening turndown service was a bit lacking, though; plus there were no welcome notes to greet us in the room and the complimentary fruit amenities were simply sad. Three fruits on a platter and they're not even popular fruits or those of high quality. The service is also a tad cold compared to when we were staying at the Ritz, where everyone greeted us by name and were very pleasant. Kempinski seemed too business-like and the warm reception came instead from the doorgirls and other common attendants--the guys at the reception, despite their politeness, were definitely lacking smiles and warmth.

Overall it was a very pleasant experience and I've already got plans on returning--although not entirely for the service.

This is one of the new renovated hotel which has such historical values in Jakarta. I love the LOCATION since it's in the heart of Jakarta and not forget to mention it's next to 2 famous shopping malls so that I can do anything in walking distance.
The rooftop swimming pool and jacuzzi was GREAT and shouldn't be missed by any guests staying there :)

I stayed a night at 13 sept 2010 in Grand Deluxe, The Room with the fountain view is breathtaking, state of the Art high Tech equipment in a comfy room, the breakfast was great, but the local food is not Ok.
The Pool was average, the whirpool inside the changing room in the Pool was good.
Its Location is OK,hazzle free food & entertainment at East Grand Indonesia.
But the Service is Lousy,I arrived at 16:00 and my room 1117 was not ready, after I asked for late check out whic in my opinion is fair enough, the reception smirk and gave me 817 instead.
Check out was horrible, seems everyone else before me got few words to complain about the hotel service.
My Advice if you dont mind the Lousy service than this hotel i certainly recommend it.

This place reels you in the minute you walk through the lobby and within seconds you're hooked. The continental furniture, mood lighting and under-stated elegance, instantly takes you a million miles away from the smog and congestion you've just walked in from. And that sense of sophistication and class doesn't end there. The rooms are plush. Everything from the thick carpets to the even thicker bathroom robes just drip with foresight and care. The Kempski's left no stone unturned reviving what was once a decaying landmark to its rightful billing as Jakarta's marquee hotel. This is five star at its best. The corridors echo with reminders of the hotel's grand past. It's equal parts museum and gallery. Sorry the competition but this place leaves its rivals for dead. Try it and you won't look back, especially if you book on the hotel's website 14 days in advance and snare a room for only USD$150 per night like we did. You won't be dissapointed.
