“love the ambience”
Reviewed April 22, 2013

Lost on the road to find this restaurant. Well, I love the ambiance, layout, and sure the food. My boyfriend said that finally he found the best Nasi Goreng (Fried Rice). But for me I enjoy my authentic of Indonesian food.

“probably the only genuine Indonesian dining experience in Jkt”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

In the old days, Oasis was the place to be if you wanted to treat your guests to a Rijsttafel. Very colonial, very expensive and obtrusive batak singers. But: an experience.

And now Lara Djonggrang. The owner knows about antiques, about Java, about atmosphere. He has proven that in Malang in Tuguh Park Hotel. Lara Djonggrang is what Jakarta has missed for so long, a good Indonesian restaurant that combines the tastes of the different regions of this vast island country. The Indonesian kitchen is usually best enjoyed on the street from the kaki lima vendors, but this restaurants adds good service, unique atmosphere and hygienic food.

“Must visit restaurant in Jakarta”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

Whenever I have guests staying with me for a few days in Jakarta, this is one of the places I will take them to impart a different and unique experience. The decor is antique, with similar items that you might find on Jl. Surabaya, and each room has its own feel. Take a walk through the restaurant before or after your meal just to look at all the different rooms.
The food itself is very good and offers a good overview of Indonesian food from different regions (with a focus on Java). I recommend ordering one of the Nasi Campur, which comes with a sample of about 10 small dishes focused on a region. It is a lot of food and well worth the price.

“Good atmosphere and decent food”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

This is the only restaurant I went to so I do not have terms of comparison. The place has a lot of traditional flavor, which compensates for the average quality of food. The quantity was also just enough. The banana pancakes in coconut sauce were very good. A beer, a single dish, a dessert and a coffee cost me around 200,000 Rps.
