We have selected this hotel based reviews on internet, although our tour guide arranged another hotel. We never regret our choice.
The lobby has nice Tibetan decorations and the hotel has a great exhibition of Tibitan art and many pictures provide some information about the history. The rooms are clean with OK facilities, the first 3 nights we were up-grated to a suit, which was very nice. The hotel restaurant serves very good breakfast with a wide range of selections and lots of fruits. The dinner was also good with good service and not overly expensive. The waiter is from Nepal, he speaks perfect English and is very good in understanding and fulfilling guests´ requirements.
The location of the hotel is a bit far away from the city center, and we had some problem to find a taxi. However, since the hotel restaurant was good and we were tired due to high altitude, it was not a major issue for us staying in the hotel after a whole day of sightseeing.

This huge hotel is a place of art and the Thibetan art decorates every corridor and public area. Room-wise is very good with tasty decorated big rooms. Free internet available.
Almost NO english is spoken tghough and is not going to be spoken in the future since now the bulk of clients are Chinese (like everywhere).
It is already 10 years old and in some case this is visible. IT remains nevertheless a solid good option in Lhasa.

Room Tip: all the rooms are good

Stayed here 3 nights as part of a 2-week group holiday. The hotel is very welcoming - we were given the welcome scarf and a 4-person Tibetan dance on arrival; the whole hotel is full of ancient artifacts and treasures collected by the owner. The bed was huge (over 7ft wide) and the room was very Tibetan, which I loved. However, there were no shelves, no drawers for things like tshirts, underwear etc and the lights were too dim to read by, other than at the desk. Personally, I like to write my diary and read my book in bed last thing at night and this wasn't possible. My room faced onto the main road which was very noisy, cars and lorries hooting until 3.30 a.m. Nevertheless, because Tibet was the whole reason I went to China at all, I loved my stay here as the base for visiting Potala Palace, Sera Monastery etc.

Seldom is "unique" appropriate for a hotel, but in this case it applies because this facility is also a museum of Tibetan artifacts. We spent three nights here and enjoyed the last two. That was because of inadequate air conditioning on a west-facing room the first night. Very warm. Once we got the manager's attention, we were moved to a beautiful suite which prompted my comment about good service recovery.

Our second room had oxygen tanks should the elevation prove too much. We did not need.

The lobby had live musical entertainment on occasion which was appreciated.

Overall we were pleased and would use this hotel again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room that is NOT on the west side of the hotel if there in summer as the heat can overw...

We had booked into this hotel for several nights while we explored Llasa before heading off by road to Nepal via Everest. As mentioned in previous reviews, one was not sure whether we were in a museum or a hotel. The artifacts in the lobby and the upper floors were sights to visit for a couple of hours by themselves.
The breakfast was very ordinary and seemed to fail by comparison to the rest of the hotel. It was only a short walk to the local supermarket to stock up on supplies for the overland trip to Nepal. There were a few local restaurants nearby.
The staff in the hotel were very helpful although English is not one of their strong suits. We had some laundry done at the hotel which seemed to have got lost, but eventually turned up a couple of days later. If we were only staying for a couple of nights, we would have lost it.
The beds are super hard (more than normal in China) and we prevailed on the staff for a soft covering on the mattress which helped a bit.
The hotel provided internet and complementary water in the room.
If we were to visit Llasa again, we would more than likely stay at this hotel again.

This hotel was a huge surprise to us... We were booked into the Sheraton, but taken to this hotel as the Sheraton was full. At first, we were not really happy about the switch-up. Our stateside agent was also not notified.
The building houses both a hotel and a museum of sorts. There are artifact displayed throughout the building, some for purchase.

Once we decided that we would stay in the hotel, we were treated wonderfully by the staff. Due to the confusion, the hotel sponsored our dinner that evening. The meal was made specifically for us and was delicious. Our waiter was very sweet and accomidating. He even brought us butter tea, but that is another story...

The rooms were larges and pretty clean except for the very spotted carpets. The bathrooms offered a nice variety of amenities.
The hotel is a bit out of the fray, but that was fine with us. We love to walk and could negotiate Lhasa on foot.
The biggest downfall of this hotel was the breakfast. It was the worst hotel breakfast I have ever experienced. Luckily at that altitude, I did not have much appetite anyways...

Overall: if you are trying to escape the standard "box hotel" this is an interesting departure from that genre.

I must say that staying in Brahmaputra is an unique experience itself. Having stayed in many hotels around the world, I have never came across a hotel like Brahmaputra. There are just so many "antique" to see in the lobby, the walkway, the musical instrument, the animal skin that is used to lay on the sofa in the lobby.
The room is nicely decorated to reflect the Tibetan culture which is largely influenced by Chinese and Indian.
I agree with Herwayzha that somehow the mattress is not comfortable. Perhaps its too firm for my liking. But on the bright side, the room has broadband internet connection.
The hotel is equipped with a clinic, just in case anyone suffers from high altitude sickness. Oxygen tanks can be wheeled to the room for when the oxygen level gets really thin at night.
