This place is very easy to find and very easy to like. It is absolutely the place to mingle with friendly, curious locals over delicious sweet milk tea.

Tea costs 1RMB per glass/ pour. You have to fetch the tea glass yourself, nestle yourself in between group of locals and try to get the attention of the tea ladies, they are wearing white coat and carrying large tea pots (hard to miss!).

Treats are available throughout the day, but more options in the morning.

I was told the place closes at 7pm, so go in the afternoon.

I found this place thanks to TripAdvisor. I've been hanging out in Lhasa for a bunch of days, but haven't been any scenarios yet because of the National Day holiday of China, during the holiday, everywhere is just so crowded, so I got lots of time to explore the local food. And the sweet tea was the first Tibetan food I've ever had in Tibet. It's so nice to be there, because I was talking to several Tibetan guys during the tea time, and it was amazing to talk about all different stuff with them. Loved the tea, the noodle and the fried potatoes. But to be honest, I am not a fan of the environment inside the kitchen, especially when you had to see it yourself.
But still, it'll be a special experience for foreign people.

The place consists of rows of long tables and is chockablock full of people. You find a seat and just plonk yourself down.

You get some tiny glasses as you enter, and you also put down a bunch of small change. A lady comes around and fills your glass with sweet tea, and takes 1 yuan from your pile of money. This goes on until you've had your fill of tea.

The atmosphere is a jolly one, and we really had fun just mingling with the locals, even if not all of them spoke English.

Very lovely experience to enjoy the real local daily life of Tibet people in a tea shop, which is very popular for the locals and tourists. Once arrived, a very warm heart feeling and never feel lonely around the very crowd atmosphere with either Tibetan family or a group of friends, whose they are smoking, relax and chat around you, even though you don't understand their language.
Almost spent at least once an hour in the early morning everything to enjoy many small cups of milk tea in Tibetan style for the price of RMB0.7. Staff are very efficient and they'd approach you with the kettle and refill the fresh hot milk tea once the small cup is empty with plenty enough of RMB banknotes around the empty cup.
By the way, the taste of Tibetan soup noodle is just fair, but RMB5 only per bowl. Somehow a good way to save the budget and solve the daily meals.
Lastly, a small tips..never go to the one which is called 'Spinning Cafe' operated by Hong Kong owner, as the price of coffee is freaking expensive! Not recommended.
