“Excellent food and cold beer”
Reviewed October 21, 2013

We ate here for lunch and had a fresh orange juice which was lovely and tomato soup. We went back at night to have pasta and pizza (a change from the usual Chinese menu in all the other local restaurants) They were both very good - a bit heavy with the basil in the pasta but tasty. The beer was cold which is the only cold one we had the whole trip. Service was prompt and the owner was friendly. Toilets were clean (bonus for Tibet!) Best meal we had in Tibet.

“1hr waiting for a wrong dish”
Reviewed October 12, 2013

We were here for a dinner on Sep, staff served a dish that we didnt order and acted like its not her mistake. Had to order again and waited for 30 min more when all another in my group finished their foods, then they bring my dish but not sure what it was so have to bring back to kitchen for checking again.
After all the owner of Dunya came and asked for help, nothing to do then. Anyway the food is so so not bad, restaurant is nice, just remember to check again the order note before staff leaves your table to make sure she writes the right food you want.

“Great views, good service, mediocre food - huge bill”
Reviewed October 8, 2013

Admittedly, the Potala view is great, it's easy to find, toilets are clean, service friendly, the balcony offers nice views of the Beijing Road and a rare occasion to sit outside, but the food wasn't very good and prices are over the top (our most expensive bill during the entire trip - and we didn't even feast!). If you're afraid you won't like to local cuisine (or any other variety of Asian food offered in Lhasa in the more Chinese quarters), go, but actually there are better and cheaper choices around, serving both Asian and Western food. Plus - when in Lhasa, do you really have to sit with all other Western group tourists? Go local!

“Not worth waiting 1 hour for a taxi for”
Reviewed October 7, 2013

we had to wait awhile for a taxi from the St. Regis and finally arrived at the restaurant, the whole drama taking about 1 hour. Of course that is no fault of the restaurant. When we arrived there were only about 3 tables taken, it felt a bit sterile. I read all the other reviews of the restaurant and they were favorable, however we did not have that experience which makes me think it was an off night for them. My noodle dish with Yak meat was really boring, I can't remember what my husband and my friend had, but they thought it was boring as well. It was definitely pricey for what we had. There are better choices in Lhasa.

“Excellent Western choice in Lhasa”
Reviewed September 30, 2013

We loved this place. A warm welcome from the Dutch proprietor and a nice atmosphere.

The food was good - not exceptional, by any means, but good. If you are craving a meal that comes with fries - or just not with rice or noodles - this is the place you need to seek out. Also, the beer was cold, which immediately marked it out as special in my book after so many room-temperature beers around China and Tibet. They also have a couple of Belgian beers (for which you'll have to be prepared to shell out 40-50 yuan).

The WiFi didn't work on the two occasions we went, which was an irritation. Otherwise, it was pretty much perfect. Recommended.
