This is one of the highlights of our entire Nanjing trip. We did a search online and found this place. The restaurant's decoration takes you back to the old China times. Foods are very local and authentic, with a reasonable price as well.

The restaurant gets really busy during rush hour so don't expect excellent service there. Other than that if you want to taste real Nanjing local food this place is a must.

The ambiance was pleasant, and the old school layout of the interior made the place different. The food was above average, as far as Chinese food goes, but it really didn't stand out that much. If you take the quality of the food and compare it to the price, it isn't all that worth it. The service was just awful, and the beers were only Qingdao - and warm. Pulheazzeee!

The idea of this restaurant is great, it makes you feel like taking a trip down memory lane back into the 1900s. The interior is beautifully designed to resemble an old tea house, with lanterns that has the name of dishes written on it. Waters and waitress dressed in old style uniform. Customers sit on wooden bench to eat. The most special part of the free performance of Suzhou Ping Tan (comment songs performed on 2 Chinese stringed instruments). The music style is soft yet stunning. Prices for this restaurant is not steep at all, usually for two, around RMB 80 you can eat a lot and very well. Highly recommended!

This is on the top floor of the glitziest mall in Nanjing. The main hall of the restaurant is like 1 of those swiss mega restaurants where you point what you want from the many stalls. We had a private room as we had some overseas guests and there was the menu to choose from. The food is pretty basic, and you can go out and point at the nanjing traditional snacks from the stalls. The waitress taking our orders was plain bored and unhelpful. When asked what were their specials, she said "we have fish, we have chicken, blah blah". Very "helpful". When we ordered beer, she assumed we wanted warm beer and it got served to us. Yuck. She couldn't wait to get out of our room, and probably her life

We ate here for dinner in April 2010. A lot of the recommended dishes were sold out, so we ordered what we could. I suspect the popular dishes are limited and they sell out pretty early on. Everything we ordered was tasty and affordable. The restaurant is located on the 8th floor of the Deji Plaza Mall and the decor quaint traditional Chinese. There was no English menu, but we speak a little Chinese and our server was helpful and nice.
