I must have stayed in a different hotel to other reviewers. Stayed one night recently for business and, admittedly, saw very little of the hotel other than my room but I wasn't impressed with that. Certainly not what I would consider to be 5-star standard. My Deluxe Queen Bed Standard was old, reeked of stale smoke and quite unattractive. Small bathroom with a shower above the bath and an old shower curtain. The ceiling in the bathroom was stained and cracked (difficult to see in the attached photo but there nonetheless) and the overhead IR heater was coming out of its ceiling mount (again, attached photo). There was no iron or ironing board in the room (something I find particularly annoying) and, when one was finally sent up, the ironing board cover was ripped. The iron had an AUS/NZ plug which only fit the laptop socket at the desk so ironing a shirt became an extremely awkward exercise, jamming the ironing board behind the desk and leaning over the desk itself. The in room breakfast was very unappettizing - the toast consisting of two, essentially, untoasted slices of 'Wonder Bread' (or equivalent), a cold fried egg and a slice of, clearly, packet processed ham. Quite honestly, if I had been staying any more than one night I would have gone elsewhere.

A quick overnight stay but a very impressive hotel beautifully presented. The rooms are cleverly designed, interesting with high quality fittings and linen. A great hotel for business with very good room service.

The hotel accommodated a huge Australian trade mission that I was a part of. The staff were courteous and efficient ensuring everyone was looked after. I can recommend this hotel. Some of the best service I've experienced in China.

Undoubtedly one of the finest hotels in the world. This is a spectacular hotel with lovely public rooms and beautiful bedrooms. The view from my room was of a construction site but who cares?! Breakfast was one of the best I have ever had anywhere.

There is free wi-fi throughout the hotel - much appreciated.

Service was excellent at all times. Standards of cleanliness and attention to detail are high.

There is a metro station just around the corner - turn left and left again when you leave the hotel - the metro is extremely easy to use and it will take you all over the city for a very modest price.

All in all, I could not recommend this hotel more highly - stay here if you can!

Stayed one night at this hotel in May. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Bottled drinking water was complimentary. This is very much a business orientated hotel, large and busy. The buffet dinner was excellent with a varied western and eastern choice of dishes. Service was good throughout the hotel. The over night stay did not permit me to experience all the hotel had to offer but the pool and fitness facilities looked good.

Spent 3 nights there on a business trip. The hotel provides what one expect from a business hotel: good service, good sized rooms (I think I got a suite though), and breakfast with a reasonable choice of continental and Chinese dishes.

A lovely experience with by far the best service we encountered in China--perhaps the best service anywhere, ever. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived but we were sent to the Business Lounge to relax and enjoy a buffet of drinks and snacks. We were upgraded to an Executive Room that was spacious with a great view over Nanjing and all the amenities you could ask for. The bathroom has a window that looks into the room (an unfortunate trend in recently constructed Chinese hotels) but lowering the automatic shade provides complete privacy. We enjoyed an extensive, elaborate breakfast buffet in Jin's Cafe and dinner in the Plum Garden restaurant. Service at both, and in the lobby lounge, was uniformly excellent. The hotel is located in the center of the Nanjing business district and above the intersection of both metro lines (Xinjiekou Station). We had a chance meeting in the elevator with Jenny Xue, Guest Relations Officer, who sincerely solicited our feedback and graciously assisted us with our travel plans. The hotel is finishing work on a second wing and when we return to Nanjing we will without a doubt be staying at the new Jinling.

Having spend 2 weeks travelling through China the Jinling Hotel in Nanjing was one of our most enjoyable stays. The staff make the hotel with everyone going out of their way to be friendly and helpful to guests from the staff member calling the lifts in the lobby, the restaurant teams, house keeping and those in the executive lounge. Rooms are small and a little dated but this was by far outshone by the service level in the hotel from the staff. I would definitely return to the Jinling.

Room Tip: Get a room on the executive floor, the lounge with free drinks, afternoon tea and breakfast make it...
