Have stayed here 6x on business since opening Spring 2011. I was between 4 stars and 5 stars in my rating, but feel like on the balance of things, I'm inclined to give 5.
Rooms are not huge, but are well arranged, particularly for solo travelers. Great bed, high tech touches, great bathroom, and all rooms have views to Lake Xuanwu. Air conditioners work very well in all seasons. No suite upgrades for Starwood Platinum guests, but executive lounge is nice and not too busy.
I like it that there are entire non-smoking floors, though I will confess that a few times I was allocated a smoking room, and I wouldn't have noticed the difference. Very clean.
Breakfast is superb, and dinner buffet is OK. The hotel is also attached to a new mall with a half dozen full service restaurant options, Chinese and Korean. Also walkable to more options on Hunan Lu.
Gym is top notch across the board, including a 25m pool. Another great exercise option is Lake Xuanwu park where you can run or walk at any hour. Greatest asset of the place in my book.
Service is friendly and enthusiastic, though at times some language barriers are run into, particularly w/ room service.
Can be tough to catch a cab, as the hotel is new and kind of hard to access for the drivers.More
