“Comfortable and safe hotel”
Reviewed November 6, 2013

Great hotel which made us feel very comfortable and safe. Location is along a side road but easy to get taxis to any part of the city. Lots of eateries and sundry shops along this lane with mini market just a short distance to the right side of the hotel.
Staffs very friendly and efficient and can give directions in simple English. Only compliant is about one snobbish female staff with a fancy car who honked impatiently at us as we were struggling to unload our luggage from the taxi upon arrival. Parked her car in front of the hotel blocking the main entrance ramp and forcing us to carry our heavy baggage up the stairs.
Never try the breakfast as it does not look very appetizing but we found a great noodle shop selling chicken soup noodles at the end of the opposite shops towards the left hand direction as you exit from the hotel. One of the best chicken soups I have ever tasted in all my years traveling in China! My wife and I ate there two mornings in a row.

Very neat and tidy hotel with a modern artsy Chinese feel.

Close to lots of tourist attractions but a bit of a walk to the metro.

Breakfast wasn't really preferable to me. Bit early for congee! But the cafe on the corner is outstanding and really chic.

This hotel has been reviewed so many times and there is not much to be added. Friendly reception. Nice room to the river side. Great location to walk out and explore the city. Yes, there is a little guppy swiming in your room and a nice fruit to eat.
Breakfast is every day the same, borderline for western guests. The coffee is undrinkable. But you can go next door to the supermarket and get a Nescafe and make your own.
The terrace at the river bank is a great place to sit in the morning, but they lock it in the evening. Good for those who want to sleep early in their room above, but it could also be a nice thing to sit outside in candle light at the canal in the night.
Yes, across the river there is some renovation going on in the buildings. But I have the impression that the workers really try to make not so much noise.

Room Tip: ask for river side, even if there is still renovation going on across the canal

My husband and I stayed at Orange Hotel for only one night. Wonderful room, big and very clean.
During check in they gave us some fruit and in the room there was also some free fruit to eat. Our room was very quiet so we had a good sleep during the night.
The location is ok if you want to get to Fuzi Miao (Confucius Temple) and there is a metro station nearby.
We will definitely stay here again if we come back to Nanjing.

Room Tip: Rooms with river view are the best, bigger and quieter

Cool room with different lighting schemes at your finger tips. Got a small fish in a fish bowl in the room. Kids will love it. The location is great. Cross the road is the Confucius Temple heritage zone. Sunday morning there is a bazaar. Diagonally is a shopping centre and beside the hotel there are metro and tourist bus.

It's not the Ritz, but it was clean, had very helpful staff - we got there and had a really small room with a small bed - not the best for two guys. Even though they were out of double beds, they moved us to a bigger room at no extra cost. Really close to the Confucian Temple and other streets to walk by. Couple cool cafes right by it too.

Your room even has a fish, and you get free coffee if you finish three sides of the Rubic's cube in the room.

Excellent location for tourism in Nanjing since the hotel is just in the right spot, adjacent to Fuzimiao (Confucius Temple area). Well kept and clean. Warm and comfortable also in winter. The rooms on the top floor facing the canal are quite small but on the other hand they have a private, furnished roof terrace.

Taxis may have trouble to get to and from the hotel since the narrow streets are often crowded. The taxi may have to drop you off at one of the bridges at the west or east ends of Dashiba Street (大石坝街; the hotel's street), but it is just a very short walk.

The Beijing-Shanghai bullet trains usually stops at Nanjing South – so it is reasonable and convenient to take a taxi between this station and the south parts of central Nanjing (where Fuzimiao is located). For going to the Nanjing central (north) station, it might be better to take a direct bus to avoid traffic jams in a taxi, or to avoid inconvenient transfers to and from the subway (there are no metro lines very close to the hotel; nearest station is about one km away: Sanshanjie 三山街 on line 1).

Plenty of direct public buses on the Jiankang Rd (健康路), going to for instance Xinjiekou 新街口 and Daxinggong 大行宫 (with Presidential Palace 总统府, the trendy bars and restaurants in the "1912 district", and the brand new Jiangning Textile Workshop Museum 江宁织造府博物馆).

Walking distance to the south gate Zhonghuamen 中华门 – follow the canal from Fuzimiao. There are some remaining blocks of old buildings and lanes just west of the city gate worth exploring.

Other areas nearby that are worth a look are the lanes surrounding and to the west of the Nanjing Folk Customs Museum 南京市民俗博物馆 (in the Gan Family Mansion 甘家大院). Located northwest of the Sanshanjie subway stop.
