Orange Hotel (Nanjing Confucian Temple)
Ranked #96 of 1,930 Hotels in Nanjing
Reviewed March 11, 2013

A very nice hotel, 2 seconds from the Confucian Temple, Room is clean and spacious, in fact the place gives you an out-of-China feeling..which is ok if you've been to the country for a while. If not, this would seem too luxorius:) I needed a break and this was more than perfect.
When in Nanjing: see the museum of Nanjing massacre (2-3 hrs to spend there, depending on the hordes) - and this is only 10 min by bus from the hotel (bus No.7).
And go and see the Ming Tombs (take the metro and walk, I made the mistake by taking the bus No.55, which also takes you there but is more hassle). A half a day is easily managable there.
The best thing in Nanjing? Fresh bakery probably (just 3 minutes from the hotel, on the main road) and the veeeery inexpensive foot massage (6 minutes from the hotel).
Advice: when taking a cab from the railway station - it costs 24 yuan - have a map ready (print out from google maps), otherwise you will have a fun time explaining to your driver where u r heading:)
Have fun!

Room Tip: mine was on the road front but being on the 4.th floor, no noise could disturbe me.

I agree with my colleagues that this is the cleanest hotel in Shanghai in this category. We checked in after a never ending business meeting and found the atmosphere very relaxing & friendly. English language skills are replaced with a smile. Breakfast is rather simple, but you can have coffee too. Location is very good and the night was very quiet. Maybe because we had the rooms looking onto the canal. No cars on that side of the hotel. But it is not a busy street either. Comfortable room, good bed, 2 oranges and a dead fish. Hmh, that was not really necessarry.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the canal

I was in Nanjing last week and stayed at the Orange Hotel, I was very happy at the level on service at checkin and room was very spacious, clean and modern. The overall experience was very good and the price makes it excellent value.
I did not go there but it is about 10min walk from the Confucian temple.

Would recommend it to business or tourist traveller as great value. It is in an older renovated building with only 4 floors. I will stay there again if need to go back to Nanjing.

Room Tip: Sopme of the rooms have a balcony with table and chairs.

In a country where superior front-line service for foreign visitors is not a given, the Orange Hotel Nanjing Confucian Temple is a notable exception! Ideally suited for the tourist looking for value accommodation in a central city location, this hotel fits the bill admirably and fully meets the three star rating. Visitors from the international airport are advised to bring along a Google map of the hotel location for the purpose of assisting taxi drivers find the correct address. And remember, that if you are travelling on the high speed train from Nanjing, make sure that the taxi driver takes you to the new Nanjing Nan (Nanjing South) station and not from the main Nanjing Railway Station. Advance Tickets (recommended) for the train journey can easily be arranged by the hotel staff from an agent very close to the hotel.

The only negative for the hotel was that the hot water service is not really piping hot, but given the quality of the rest of the room fittings, this was really only a minor inconvenience. And the breakfast served from the cafe, whilst quite inexpensive, is at best a snack only! However, adequate alternative provisions from supermarkets and fruit shops in the street can fulfill the needs of early starters!

Friend insisted on visiting Nanajing. Since we stayed in crystal orange hangzhou, decided to stay the same. Taxi driver didnt really know how to get there from the railway station, and the hotel is actually not at the main road but a side road inside (due to road works and detour).

There are shops along and opposite the hotel, such as small coffee house and chinese version of 7-11 stores. To get cabs you have to walk to the main road. The hotel back side is situated at the Qin Huai he, (qin huai river) and at night is a nice view to behold.

Now about the rooms. Compared to the same chain in Hangzhou, the room here is spacious. basic stuff like flat tv, and iphone speaker etc.

10 mins walk to Fu Zi Miao. Well, its a touristy place with food stalls and Mac Donalds. I didnt really enjoy the city though.

Stayed in this hotel in May. It is very close to Confusius temple, within 5 mins walking, right next to the famous river. It is a bit far from the subway though, like 15 mins walk. It's better to grab a taxi. The front desk was friendly and gave you advice when needed. Room is spacious and neat clean with modern deco. There is a nice couch which you can sit and lean on it and enjoy the view from the window. Wifi is well connected. Breakfast is plain though - a simple sandwich with boiled egg and one glass of artificial juice. They charge you if you want to switch to a cup of coffee. Overal it is a good stay.

Stayed here for a weekend - overall very efficient, and a fantastic location, good decor, very soft beds for China. Clean, and very quick. Their check out is very efficient, where they send someone to check your room to make sure that you haven't forgotten anything.
This hotel is far from the subway, but within walking distance to quite a few buses, including the 7 bus at the Confucian temple, which takes you straight to the Nanjing Massacre Memorial (get off at 江东门).
In the evening, it's popular to turn right and walk around the Confucian temple and get snacks and food, but it's very crowded and touristy. For the opposite experience, turn left outside of the hotel, and walk along the canal. It has cute light decorations and you can watch the boats go down. You'll end up at the Ming Dynasty wall, a section of which is open, and it's very relaxing. All locals, no tourists.

Two issues prevented me from giving all 5 stars. 1) The hotel didn't have an menus for takeout/delivery. 2) We ordered takeout ourselves and asked the hotel to send knives and forks, which they don't have. Only chopsticks. They worked fine, though.

Overall, great service and setting.

Room Tip: While the riverview rooms have a nice view, the tourist boats go by at night and can be loud. Opt fo...
