“Great little hotel good location”
Reviewed December 6, 2011

I stayed at the Orange Hotel Confucian Temple for 3 nights. The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very comfortable. The staff were very polite and although some did not speak english they really tried to help out. I found the customer service at the hotel to be some of the best I have seen in China, even better than some 5 star hotels I have stayed before. The best part about the hotel is the location since it is walking distance to many of Nanjing tourists sites (Confucius Temple, Bailuzhou park, Zhonghua gate, Taiping heavenly Kingdom museum, etc.).
The breakfast is 10 yuan but don't waste your time and money, for 25 yuan you can have a great western style breakfast at the restaurant which is located west of the hotel just before the bridge 1 minute walking distance from the hotel. (They make a delicious cappuccino too!)

Room Tip: Choose a room that faces the canal, besides the nice view you will hear less noise since the other r...

Orange Hotel is a new chain hotel in China. I looked at two Orange hotels before choosing one. I saw one near Xinjiekou (practically next to Metro station Zhangfuyuan, one stop from Xinjiekou or Sanshanjie), but there's nothing much else near the hotel and it's starting to get old. I prefer Orange Hotel Fuzimiao because it's near Fuzimiao and it's newer, and I don't need a location near subway station as I'm traveling with my grandma who'll need to ride cabs anyway.

Orange Hotel near Fuzimiao is newly built, only about a year old. Posh and clean, though rather small. But I suspect that in a few years time, unless it's well maintained, it'll show obvious wear and tear. My room is clean and modern. I stayed in the Business Executive room. Free wifi is provided. You have to pay extra RMB 10 for breakfast, but in front of the hotel there are plenty food stalls. No free water bottles provided, but there's water dispenser at the lobby. Next to the lobby is a mini mart. Taxis are easy to find.

The nearest Metro station, Sanshanjie, is a good 10-15 min walk, but it's next to Fuzimiao, a good shopping place, and behind it is a river which provides good view. It's near an old city wall too. All Orange hotels in Nanjing seem to provide free bikes for two hours (more than two hours, I think you'll have to pay RMB 5). It's nice to bike around in Nanjing, and most local ppl do that.

Visit their website www.orangehotel.com.cn for better online rates. The website is in Chinese, but no worries, use google translate. Ask for rooms near the elevators. If not, you'd have to walk quite a distance to the end of the hotel.

Room Tip: Business rooms facing the river is nice. You can sunbathe on its porch. Ask for rooms near the eleva...

We booked for a business room as they are fully booked for the regular ones. It's about 50 yuan more but we are very pleased. Firstly the reception staff are polite and professional. Comparable to 5 star hotels service quality. Even the chambermaids greet us at the doorway and accede to our extra requests happily.

The room is very good value for moeny, great decor and you can tell these guys put in lotsa efforts into branding. Nice soft lighting, special cables and little placards to "chat" with guests eg on LAN cable usage & even a mini fishtank w a live goldfish inside. Guess what? The fish even has a name. Ours is "karen" and we are gently reminded thru the placard not to feed her as she is on diet etc . Haha. So funny.

There is no bottled water provided in the room unlike many china hotels but there is a water dispenser at the lobby that we may use for refills. Bfast sets is provided at 10yuan, but we slept way ahead the last order at 930am to try.

We will definitely stay with Orange chains next time. Thumbs up to them!

Booked a king bed with river view through orangehotel website and gotten a good rate. Indicated as per booking that my latest arrival would be 8pm but I would only arrive at 11pm. So called the hotel and they gladly helped me to extend the reservation time. - Nice touch

Reservation was quickly pulled out and there I went from my room.

My room was small but adequate, not much of walking space but everything was there. A balcony with a pretty much nothing to shout about river view.

No free bottled water in the room but water is free in the lobby through the dispenser

Supposed to have wlan and wifi in the room but both did not work for me and that was the only bad thing.

Overall, for the rate I paid, this is the best you can find and it was actually comfortable.

The hotel offers an excellent value, new rooms with clear design and roomy shower area for a sensational price, water pressure expremely low, though. Breakfast is extremely simple, but a steal for 10 RMB.
The Fuzimiao area is very lively, but a little on the tacky side - and the hotel is a 15-20 minute walk from the nearest subway station which is a major letdown - and the Orange hotel is located in a small street where a taxi is really hard to get by. Splurging out for the Holiday Inn Aqua City (located right at that subway station and a fantastic outdoor mall) may be a better alternative for many if you are not on a really small budget or if your Putonghua is limited.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not too far from the elevator and with a riverview.

Visited Nanjing during Spring Festival and was delighted with our hotel.

Furnishings in the room were new and very clean. The bed was soft and comfortable and the location next to Fuzimiao was really unbeatable. Also, river view was fantastic.

Best of all, the rack rate was only RMB288/night.

Absolutely a hidden gem!
