Walked the section along Xuanwu Lake.
It's quiet on the wall, with views of Xuanwu Lake & the city. The wall is well preserved and feels quite imposing in some parts. Hard to believe they are hundreds of years old.
Saw a couple of exhibits along the walk but they were only in Chinese so skipped past them.

Like a mini great wall. Very quiet and nice views. Go to the one connected to the temple also so you can knock out 2 in one.

Had a great trip out to the Nanjing wall - very interesting and you can explore lots of the nooks etc - Make sure you feel the bricks inside the tunnels for hiding the soldiers in (they are warm in winter!)
Well worth a trip out!

This may be a false impression, but I felt the city wall was respected, not artificially preserved but allowed to stand with its own presence a reminder of power through the ages. The wall is huge, part of the modern landscape (with children playing on the top, in care of adults, and a jazz band playing at the opening to one of the tunnels at the base...)

Have walked the entire walk a number of times with members of the Hopkins-Nanjing Center community. Delightful group outing. Entire walk takes anywhere from 6-10 hours, with lunch and other breaks. Some fantastic parts; some, not so.
