“Luxurious hotel; coolest elevators ever!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 13, 2012

I stayed at the Nanjing Intercontinental for six nights while visiting my daughter, who works in Nanjing. This is a luxury hotel with excellent service and great amenities, and I felt warmly welcomed and comfortable. My room rate included breakfast, which is an elaborate spread with every imaginable food choice, both Chinese and western. I asked the business center to book a train ticket to Shanghai for me, which they did for a tiny fee, and had my train ticket the same day. Very convenient.

As for the elevators -- the system is designed to provide great security, so the elevators go just to one floor per passenger/group. Unusual, but very personalized!

To be frank, this is only a short stay, and indeed I have only used the hotel to sleep in (bar tonight when I have eaten a very nice salad in my room).

The views - I am on the 56th floor and the floor to ceiling windows just sell the place. The decor is ok, the room layouts could have been better considered - but who is looking at that when you can look out across the city lake to the hills?

Come here to experience being in the 13th tallest free-standing structure in the world - need I say more?

Big tick on the things I want to do in China.

Pros - good location, price not outrageous.
Cons - mysterious smell of insecticide in the lobby, bathtowels etc
Its an 80 storey building with 3 lifts so bring some patience
Check-in / out take ages as there are far too few people on the desk (and too many floating around). The queueing system for check-in was "Chinese rules apply". Supposed to be 5star
Worst Intercontinental I've been in really. Walls are paper thin so we didn't sleep too good

An impressive some 80-storey building with fantastic views over the city, lovely restaurants, great gym, all new and very well designed. Service was fast and impeccable, rates very reasonable and location in city-center and next to subway station. Generous rooms, really well equipped. Actually, couldn't be much better.

This is a brand new 5-star hotel in Nanjing and probably the highest one both in terms of location and standard. Stayed there for three nights. The location is unbeatable with the metro station literally outside of the hotel. Considering many people travelling to Nanjing by rail where they have metro stops at both train stations and the growing pain of traffice jams in the city, it is a big plus for both business and leisure travellers. The view of the room (the Lake View Room) is excellent while the hotel being on top of the tallest building of Nanjing. The decor of the room is modern and new, but with adequate quality, especially the basin is too small and shallow to use. Two unique things about the room: 1. Ceiling is pretty high. 2. it has ventilation windows to be opened freely to allow for fresh air. Such kind of things are not usual in a high building hotels at the city center. The room service is good, courteous and prompt. But the front desk is a big drag. I was standing there for at least 10 minutes without being welcomed. Not usual for a 5-star hotel. Overall, it is a good hotel worth staying if you can get a good rate. PS. The breakfast is a must-try, good selection with wonderful views.

Room Tip: If possible, always upgrade to a lake view room.

Intercon NJ is right in the smack of the city and is on the metro line. Excellent location and it offers all the service you need: baby cot, gym, indoor/ outdoor swimming pool, spa, all the necessities you can find at a 5-star hotel. The service is friendly and they try best to accommodate. The 78th floor Prime restaurant offers simple and delightful food. The Summit offers probably the best nanjing beef noodle soup in that city! This is definitely the hotel to pick for couples and/or families with children. Highly recommended.

Trust me: the view from the hotel is worth the stay and the trip. Hotel occupys last floors of the highest building in Nanjing. The view is incredible and you'll spend hours whith your nose on your windows.
Rooms are big and brand new. Restaurants are good and the buffet at the top even if very expensive!

I'll stay there again: a dream!
