We had a reservation for a party of 7, took the escalators all the way to the top, was looking for Tung Po, we asked in the first room where it was. "Tung Po? Don't know where it is, maybe you eat here....." We walked into the second room and found out it was there. The first restaurant was empty and Tung Po was packed! We remembered when we were there, it was cash only. All of a sudden everyone was counting out their cash, and after deducting a reserve for cabs, we had our budget. Had a great waiter who spoke some English (didn't get his name). We explained our cash constraints to him and he cheerfully worked with us. The squid ink pasta (once you got past the color) was delicious. The steamed whole fish was a particularly good value (& yummy too!). When we got the final tally, we had plenty of room to spare and our tummies were full! Everyone sat on plastic stools cheek to jowl. The room was packed with locals.

Welcome to corruption-free Hong Kong, or is it? Food is good here but expensive. However this is offset by the availability of liquor (supposed illegal in government owned markets where it is situated), and the abundance of smokers (also banned). I wonder what strings Tung Po pulls to allow it to take over practically the whole floor at nights, illegal sell alcohol with promotion girls from the b iggest breweries aiding and abetting them, and smoking in the air conditioned market with impunity?

Nicely crowded and noisily seafood restaurant wich turned out to be a fantastic discover for me. Everything was great and genuine, fantastic taste! Robby is the best, his friendliness as a waiter is a difficult thing to find in Hong Kong.

Of course this is not a high-class restaurant... in Tung Po you will find big dishes and fast and spontaneous waiters shouting and joking with customers... but that is part of the show!

P.S.: will absolutely try it again in the future!

you can reach there by metro, go North Point station, exit from A1(Java Road),turn left, at the other side of the road, no99, second floor is seafoods. you can find any seafood there in reasonable prices. It is not luxuary (maybe a little bit dirty for someone, however delicious and not touristic.no Credit card, pay cash. It will be possibly crowded, you will sit with a groups.
