Egg tarts were phenomenal dont get me wrong, the pastry soft warm and full of butter. As it was so good i quickly returned and decidied to go for the chicken pie which didnt quite work as the pastry is so rich buttery and on the sweet side, I couldnt taste any of the chicken and felt a bit sick. Nonetheless the egg tarts are incredible and thats what this place is famous for.

One of the must eats whilst in Hong Kong - egg tarts. And this famous bakery did not disappoint. Recommended.

Yup, that's what they are famous for...egg tarts!! Tai Cheong Bakery is located in Central and though slightly renovated, still looks like the old school bakery. Egg tarts are pumped out at furious rates as locals and foreigners alike, flock there to grab some to savour. Very crispy crust and a milky smooth egg custard makes it a must-try!

The egg tarts are not bad, but not my favourite. The crust is rich and heavy, but the filling has a nice eggy fragrance. I still prefer Honolulu's!

I love love love love egg tarts, especially the flaky one. I still find Tai Cheong's are the best (or might be because I dont know any better =p). Their sugar donuts are also very very good. A must try for egg tart lovers. Come early, as they are very popular.. and dont forget, egg tarts are best eaten fresh from the oven...
