The food was great, and the place was gorgeous. With good views, high ceilings and nice furnishings, it's a very comfortable place to have dim sum. The trolleys are clearly marked (why isn't this more common?!) and the staff are friendly.

I have to wait 25min to get a table, but it was worth it!

The service with the ladies and the carts is great! We try them almost all and everything was excellent (except the tea, beacause I heat tea!)!

Maxim's Palace is how you should remember the dim sum experience. They have a huge beautiful hall with chandeliers and white tables across a huge hall. They open at 11AM and I would come here at 11AM so you can get a seat without waiting. Dim sum comes with thick skins so none will really blow you away. If you want finger licking good dim sum then go to 'One Dim Sum'.

If you want a table closer to the window to see the harbor then come at 10:50 and wait a few minutes and make a beeline for the table you want. The carts have all of the dim sum listed in English and Chinese. If you aren't getting something you want just ask the staff for a specific order or point to a table that has what you want.

Ask for the red pepper flake oil, or chili oil for a little kick for your dim sum.

Normally on weekends the line to get into this restaurant would be a 30min to 1 hour wait inspite of the fact that the restaurant capacity must be around 300-400 seats.
Why is it so popular ? It serves Hong Kong's famous traditional dim sum dishes on little trolleys
that go around the room. For tourists, this is the best way to order Chinese food that one is not
familiar with. You can actually see what you will be eating. from these trolleys. They come in little dishes, affordable prices and good for two to four people.
Maxim's is a Hong Kong restaurant trademark reputable for providing good delicious Chinese cuisine from many regions.
The location of the restaurant ....being on the third floor of the City Hall building sits on the waterfront with unobstructed view of West Kowloon....Hong Kong's new skyline. Perfect for first time visitors to Hong Kong. Even the locals alike enjoy a leisurely meal in the newly decorated dining room with some of the most stunning chandeliers which gives a touch of elegance to a simple "dim sum" meal.
The word "dim sum" in Cantonese means small snacks.

Get your queue ticket and be prepared to wait for 30 minutes.
A bit expensive compared to other Dim Sum specialties. But it
depends what you order. I ordered for about 11 Dim Sum items ,
4 deserts and 1 pot of tea, total cost is HKD650. But worth it!
That's more than enough for us, 2 adults and 2 young children.
