“Great Dim Sims”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

This is a good value restaurant with very tasty Dim Sims & a large variety on offer. The restaurant is very busy but spacious & light with pleasant surroundings. It is obviously popular with both locals & tourists. The entrance of it is a bit confusing to find!.
Although a lot of the delightful ladies pushing the trolleys do not speak English they are always smiling & willing to show you what is on offer - also helpfully there are signs on the trolley explaining the dishes.Service was quick & Chinese tea plentiful. All of the staff members were helpful, courteous & friendly. definitely recommended

“Easy Dim Sum with Trolleys”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

This is a big dim sum restaurant..Arrived around 12noon and had a 30 minute wait on a Saturday. The restaurant reminded me of a conference ballroom with huge chandelliers etc.. The food is good...lots of ladies with trolleys and english and chinese descriptions as to what they were offering so it was easy to attract the trolleys you wanted...We tried some new things that werent fabulous or were slightly cold...so the key is getting fresh and hot dim sum. The Pork stuffed rice noodles were very good as were the Pork buns. We had been to TIm Ho Wan the day before...a completely different experience...tiny hole in the wall restaurant...and loved it...this is better for big groups and had quite a nice view, but much more expensive than Tim Ho Wan.

“Its as good as gets Dim Sum for Dim Sims”
Reviewed November 26, 2012

Yes its like eating in the Great hall of the People but its old fashion Billy cart Yum Cha done the way I like it.....that is if the food is up to scratch. We were taken by an Expatriate local and horrors above horrors it is the first time in my life i did not have a drinkies with lunch. Cannot count the 4 litres of Jasmine tea although it did seem to fit the atmosphere.

The food is ever circulating and the movement was everywhere with folk coming and going and a pleasant murmur and slurping sounds filling the rather banquet hall type ambience. Tastes of nearly every style of Yum cha were very morish and the delicacy of the dim sum were translucent and light with a good texture.
No idea of the cost but well worth the experience and would recommend this to those hitting Honkers for a fast and furious stopover.

“Best Dim Sum Ever!”
Reviewed November 19, 2012

My husband loves dim sum, typically I am not a fan. I have been to a few restaurants in Boston, New York and Toronto, but have never fallen in love with dim sum. Having said that, dim sum at Maxim's Palace was amazing! A popular lunch spot for both locals and foreigners, we were 108 on the list and arrived as they were calling 82. Considering this, the wait was reasonable, about 30 minutes. And once you're seated, tea is served immediately. Tea is served in silver tea pot, chopsticks are silver tipped, table clothes are linen, food is eaten off china. Food is presented from carts and while the women pushing the carts didnt speak English, signs for food is written in English, so ordering what we wanted was easy. Pork buns were a stand out while we would not have ordered the egg yolk and lotus paste buns again, too sweet and paste was too dry.
