These trains are fast, clean, & not too crowded. Had been to HK before and my sons figured out our routes & ticket buying. This time without them I found it so easy and efficient. Don't be intimidated

I’d suggest to buy Octopus card - it may save you few bucks if you stay in HK for few days.
Download most recent MTR map for your convenience.
Check the signs inside of the stations, exit numbers - you’ll save time to reach your required point.
When search for a specific place, often TripAdvisor provides the exit number (eg. N3), which is closest to your point of destination

Great transport system and very inexpensive. We all puchased Octopus cards on arrival and we traveeled all over Hong Kong with ease.

Very intuitive, convenient and cheap. In the four 4 days we were in Hong Kong that’s all we ever used. Most trains go every two minutes.

What can I say, it is the subway. But it is incredibly easy to use. The rout maps are clearly marked. On the newer trains, the maps are electronic and blink to indicate the station you are arriving at. All of the entrances/exits are numbered (and visible on Google Maps). Check Google to see which exit you want to use, and follow the numbered signs to get there. It puts the USA to shame!

One of the easiest underground systems we've used around the world. Clean, cheap and with free wifi. Even in such a busy country, no delays, all seems to run smoothly.

First time in Hong Kong and of course , I am taking the local transport to get a feel . It’s the same as any countries with train system .
The trains are clean and seats are made of metal . Seems the space constrain is not just tied to house size but also train and bus seats .
Otherwise , it’s a comfortable enough ride . Some stations are similar to Tokyo , they actually have shops within the stations , convenient to grab a quick drink or bite when in a rush , without having to incur cost by leaving the station .

The system is very efficient, fast and signature is clear. The fair is reasonable for HK $300 it last us for a week and we still have money balance on the Octopus card. Cabins are fully air-conditioned, hygienic and clean. Plenty of shops and convenient stores around the every station. Passengers are disciplined, polite and civilised. As a tourist I find it extremely easy to use the HK MTR, cheap and good. Highly recommend.
