Description: The Verandah is a celebrated restaurant that brings you a faultless combination of heavenly traditional Continental cuisine, blended with innovation, fine wines and discreet, attentive service, in a classic yet relaxing setting in true Peninsula style. The Verandah re-opened following a six-month-long extensive restoration and refurbishment of its interiors and kitchens in August 2009. It maintains the relaxed and spacious atmosphere of the original Repulse Bay Hotel but with a Grand Hall to create a more spacious and welcoming arrival experience and a revitalised interior. A new Grand Staircase provides stylish and convenient passage from the restaurant to the Palm Court and the retail arcade. Regulars can rest assured that The Verandah's celebrated signature dishes — and its traditional English Afternoon Tea and Sunday Brunch — remain on its bill of fare.Opening hours : Wednesday to Saturday, Public Holidays Lunch 12:00 noon to 2:30 pm Afternoon Tea 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm(3:30 pm to 5:30 pm onPublic Holidays) Dinner 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm Sunday Brunch 11:00 am to 2:30 pm Afternoon Tea 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm Dinner 7:00 pm to 10:30 pm Closed every Monday and Tuesday (except Public Holidays).Lunch and Afternoon TeaKindly note that our dress code is Smart Casual. We respectfully request that gentlemen refrain from wearing plastic footwear, beach flip-flops and sandals. tea time at the verandah was the highlight of our last trip to hong kong. we chose the verandah over the much-hyped peninsula because they accepted reservations (sorry, but lining up really just cheapens the experience in my opinion) -- it was a good decision because they did not disappoint! the place had a very old-world colonial feel to it, and the service was top-notch. we had the tea set for two while enjoying nice views of the ocean (repulse bay beach is best enjoyed from a distance). the food and tea were excellent. i loved that the place was calm and quiet, perfect for a nice long conversation.

outside the verandah, you can explore rest of the repulse bay complex -- shops, a nice garden, a spa, etc.

tea for two = about HK$400

Wow. This place is not only beautiful, but the food and service are fantastic. Repulse Bay is a beautiful area and this restaurant is a classic. It is one of those where they make a lot of the dishes table side. I had a set meal with a lobster theme. Their steak tartare will convert those who cannot stand the idea. beautiful seafood and meat and all artfully done.

This is a night out and one to remember.

With this place being run by the Peninsula Group, there is going to be very little to fault. I love coming to this pace for brunch/ dinner because it exudes old world charm. I love the building in which it is housed and I love the ceiling fans and the marble floor tiling. I come here for an experience and not necessarily the food.

Brunch, if you can get a table, is a must. Moreso than any other on the island. People rave about Zuma (and I have been there many times) but having brunch at the Verandah is old school and very classy. The food is excellent with lobster, crab, prawns (lack of oysters is a downside) and then sushi, pasta, pizza, curry, roast meats, cheeses, desserts all beautifully presented on silver platters/ served to you by white glove wearing waiters/ chefs. You feel you could be back in the 1920s!!

Also, with the tables spread nicely apart, it was a joy to be in a restaurant without someone talking over your shoulder.

Empress of the Sea Temple and Colonial House amidst the bustle of the Promenade and Plaza makes for a GREAT walk on an overcast afternoon. MUST VISIT! Make sure to take the CityTrans 6A bus and start at Stanley Market to look around and make your way to the Promenade and just EXPLORE and ENJOY the scenery. Take as much pictures as you like and can take.

Note though, that Stanley is an expensive area due to its expat demographic. Half a day would be sufficient to devote to visit, and be armed with water and snacks to replenish your physique from the walk.
