Description: Spices is popular for its diversified and authentic Asian cuisine, tasteful Eastern design and wonderful garden setting punctuated by spacious green lawns and tropical blooms. The refurbished Spices boasts a new contemporary interior. Inspired use of natural materials, such as bamboo, teak, rattan, stone and coconut, in contrast with bold, vibrant colours gives the restaurant a distinct Asian identity. The lively and inviting space, evocative of a bustling Asian spice market, will undoubtedly enchant and inspire all the senses. Several landscape enhancements have also been made to The Garden - an outdoor section of Spices celebrated for being the finest venue for alfresco wining and dining in Hong Kong. The interior design improvements are complemented by an enriched menu of authentic Asian delights, prepared to perfection by the highly talented culinary team.

Nice views from the terrace. Service was ok
Food comes in big quantities, good to know for those being really hungry.

What I don't like about the place is the fact that they always organize functions and weddings and then install a big tent in the middle of their terrace. Should you make a reservation always check if there are functions, because I would not recommend you to go there at that time (noise, ugly tent in the middle of the setting, service is not as good ..)
It is not my favorite restaurant in Hong Kong but I would recommend it for a ladies lunch.

My wife and I went for Saturday lunch a few weeks ago as we had not been for some time but it proved to be disappointing compared to previous visits. Thetrservice hjas always beena a bit hit and miss and nothing has changed but the food... What has happened?

My wife ordered beef teriyaki and I had the lamb curry. In both cases, the meat was of high quality but neither dish actually tasted of anything - devoid of flavour. What a disappointment.

We also fancied some rose with our meal. The wine list contained one rose wine - from the Lebanon. Come on! The Peninsula Group can do better than this.

The last time I visited The Repluse Bay was attending a wedding here a few years back. I rarely make a deliberate attempt to this place for food. A business associate of mine is in the vicinity and suggested this restaurant.

I have always struggle with South Asia/Indochina food in HK. Poor value and unauthentic. For a cafe, Spices is definitely a notch higher than the standard cafe food. I am impressed with their pomelo salad, vietnamese oxtail curry, and Thai spicy minced pork eggplant. Ingredients are very fresh and the cooking style, while have a western touch to it, is delicious and authentic. The average main dishes ranges from HK$100 to HK$150 per dish....it is definitely a little on the pricey range but the quality & ambience makes up for it. The setting reminds me of a more relaxed colonial version of The Peninsula.

A great location/restaurant to take respite from city life, especially on a weekday.
Cabfare from Central ranges between HK$90 to HK$100, depending on the traffic. Takes about 15 to 25 mins. If you are coming all the way here, might as well hang around to soak in the ambience.

Spices has been an old favourite in Hong Kong. Regrettably there are very few restaurants on the South Side of HK Island, and this one serves a very large hungry public. But Hong Kong people are used to going in to town to have their meals. The food while good, the menu quite varied, from Thai, to Vietnam, India to Chinese, which makes it easy for most people to find something to eat, is not brilliant. Some dishes are very well executed like the pomelo salad with the soft shell crab, but while good, lacks authenticity. The restaurant plays to a Western rather than an Asian palate. I will rate the atmosphere 4 1/2 stars, as the indoors is very lovely, and better yet on the right evening, sitting outside is fantastic. Service is very variable, typical in the HK way of wanting to be efficient and pleasing yet tending to be disorganised.

A large group of us (over 10) went there on New Year's day and ordered a wide variety of dishes to share. These include several curries, tandoori salmon, mee noodles, morning glory stir-fried with garlic, naan, basmati rice, satay platter, warn and cold spring rolls, fish cake, grilled pork neck... so we got Vietnam, Thai, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India covered!

You should see the problem now -- a restaurant cannot possibly do justice to the national cuisine of so many different countries. It is paradise for the Hong Kong palate, but the death of authenticity.

To be fair, the food was delicious. But nothing was spicy. Not even the lamb rogan josh. Everything was sweet and charming. Dessert was very nice. Service was good, the setting beautiful. Everybody had fun. So it is a good choice for families (albeit a bit pricey).
