First time we were there was just for drinks on a Sunday afternoon which is so pleasant and relaxing. Based in the large PMQ centre in the heart of Soho, it is rare to find a spot as relaxing as this. The cocktails are unusual, albeit rather small so it was a lot of ordering!! On another occasion we had a lunch in the cafe which is perfect for a quick lunch. Dinner another night at the main restaurant area, because our party was more than 5 we were given a great table facing the open kitchen. The food was sublime - the best is the beef cheek and bone marrow. Dessert was a hit and miss. Second time at the restaurant was for a birthday dinner and again they surpassed themselves. The food was brilliant, service was excellent but this time we choose the pastries from the cafe which turned out to be much better than the desserts. Well done to Jason Atherton and Yenn Wong for opening a Jason Atherton Social in HK!!

So I walked in to the virtually empty lower part of the restaurant just now. Seeing a limited menu, I ask if there is a table available upstairs, where apparently there is a greater choice of food. I receive a one word answer - no. I then ask when they they think a table might be available - how long I might have to wait. I receive the reply "I don't know". I ask if they might be able to estimate, based on how long people have been there for, etc. I receive the reply "I don't know. We don't set an out time". Completely unhelpful, totally unwilling to actually check. No offer of having food from the upstairs menu, downstairs. Very poor customer service. I will not be trying to get a table here again. I have rated the food and value as average, given that I didn't get that far!

My boyfriend took my to Aberdeen Street Social for my birthday meal, and wow, what an amazing experience. Jason Atherton is a genius! We have recently moved to Hong Kong from London, where we'd often go to Pollen Street Social for cocktails. Aberdeen Street has a similar vibe, perhaps slightly less polished staff, but I think that will come with time. We enjoyed drinks at the bar, along with olives and homemade ricotta with fig jam before heading upstairs for our meal. There we enjoyed a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc, starters of salmon/beetroot & guinea foul....followed by main courses of roasted fish & ox cheek....followed by 'peanut' desert and cheese from Neal's Yard Dairy. Complementing the meal were amuse bouche along the way. The total bill was about £250. Given the amount consumed and the quality of the food, I think this was good value. I look forward to going back and trying some of the other dishes on the menu. Highly recommend for any occasion, the lunch and brunch menus look great too.
